I just wanted to say that I have worked from home for almost two years now exclusively and would like to know if anyone else does and what they do. I will start: I have done wedding photography for about 11 years although for the last two years it has been dead around here in my area. I also raise hedgehogs (my main source of income), make and sell the cages and exercise wheels for them and sell meal worms. We do alot of Ebay selling. I pick up and sell aluminum cans. When my husband was running the newspaper route we sold the papers to the recycling center. I would appreciate anyone else's answers and ideas as I am always looking to do different things.

I have my own vending machine business and have 7 different machines at different places. Before that I had a sterling silver jewelry home party business. Can't see giving somebody else all the tax breaks!! ![]()

rgyman- where do you resell the items- somewhere local? I have been pondering this but wasn't sure where to start. Does anyone sell in a booth like at one of those flea market type stores?

At my yard sale I took emails and asked them would they like to get a list once a week from me with all the items I have for sale. I got a lot of people that way. It started with people that works at the office with my husband sending them a list. I have regulars at my yard sales just for the stockpile and then new ones that want to be added to my list that I send out once a week and those people tell people so I send my list to over 175 people every week. That how I got started. The ones that work with my husband he takes to work and deliever it to them. Everyone else comes here and picks it up. It works out nice but as I said this is the first time it been slow for about the month of Dec. and we are hoping it will pick back up but a little worried so I looking for job . Hope that helps.

I used to work for 1800flowers from home but couldn't deal with working on the holidays! I stay home to be with my kids and my family and the holidays are very important to me. Then I worked for westathome and I loved that job but my father had a stroke and I had to let it go. I'm going to try and get back on with them after the first of the year. But right now, I work for Sylvan Learning center from home! I LOVE it!! It's fun and easy work but it's only seasonal so I need something that is FT!!

I work from home through CafePress, I've been doing it since 2004. I know a lot of people that join up and think they can make a quick buck but it takes a lot of work to become successful there. It's just in the last 2 years that I've started bringing in just as much as my husband. Not to mention it's a great creative outlet for those into graphic design.

I run a floral business out of my home. If you think about it, how many times do you actually go to a florist to place an order? I do a lot of weddings and corporate accounts.

I work on mturk.com and it has been great for me. It took me a couple weeks to get the hang of it and I found a forum that gave me tons of information. I have been working on mturk for 8 months now and it is perfect for what I needed. I accept the jobs I want and ignore the jobs I don't want, and if I want to take the day off to spend with my family I can.

mturk.com is a site where "requesters" post jobs they need done and "turkers" can accept and perform tasks. You get paid for piece work, and payment varies depending on the tasks. Some only pay $.01 while others will pay several dollars. They almost always have transcription jobs available, as well as data extraction. The jobs are called "HITS" which stands for human intelligence tasks. Over time I have developed favorites and generally work for one requester regularly, and make pretty good money with them. Their hits pay $.35 each and I usually average $10 per hour when I do them. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions. For me mturk has been the perfect solution and I am glad to share some of what I know.
