What do the bells mean at my local Trader Joe's? It’s a kind of Trader Joe’s Morse code. Those blustery PA systems just didn’t feel right to us, so we came up with a simple system to communicate – island style. One bell lets our Crew know when to open another register. Two bells mean there are additional questions that need to be answered at the checkout. Three bells call over a manager-type person. Honestly, it’s much easier than the ole message in a bottle trick

Thanks for sharing! I was at TJs with my kids just the other day and were wondering why someone suddenly rang the bell ~ now we know ![]()

I have never been to TJs either. The closest one is about 45 minutes away. Do they have handicapped scooters? I cannot shop stores that do not have them, because DH cannot push me in a wheelchair and push a cart at the same time. Also, do they accept EBT? I have friends that love TJs, but none of them ever noticed if they have scooters or not. ![]() Tamara

The one I work at has a scooter and accepts EBT. I'm located in NJ and assume that they are all similar since they are not franchised and owned by the same company.

I don't think that the one by me has a scooter. Don't know about EBT.

It is worth the 45 minute drive. Take a cooler! I miss Trader joes, they have some great freezer foods, meats and cheese. The prices are good too. During the holidays they have some of the best cookies I have had. Call the store and ask if they have a scooter and if not ask if they have a "personal shopper" that can shop with you. I did this for my mom when we went to stores without scooters and most stores are very helpful and have someone to help. |

Also you can call ahead and they will put items 'on hold' for you so that they aren't sold out of them when you get there..... They are good like that.
