It's like a game to see how little I can pay for something... or better yet if I can get it free (or have them pay me to buy it with overage).

Thanks fo all your help everyone. |

I have been doing it since I was about 8 or 9 and now I am 43 so its just part of my life. I love the thrill of getting stuff for cheap or best of all free!!!!!!
I have a store room in the basement that has 6 large shelving units to store stuff. Two are dedicated to food and one is dedicated to paper products and such. My linen closet has all my super good deals/free merchandise /samples. I just have lots of stuff I can't keep track of all of it, but we never run out because I am always busy looking for my next big deal to chase after. Ok, this is the part where I will say my name and ask to help for my stockpiling addiction. ![]() |

I first started for financial reasons. I work part time in the evenings, so I can SAH with my 13 month old. Couponing has helped make our ends meet. It also fulfills my shopping fix and is also a hobby for me to have. This all got started due to AFC, thank you all so much!

I NEED TO SAVE, I CAN"T PAY FULL PRICE It truely makes me violently ill! Besides. I have a shopping addiction and this is a fabulous way to shop without putting my family in the poor house ![]() |

2-part answer, though I voted for the "cause I'm frugal" choice.
1. I use coupons to have more money to save. 2. I EXTREME coupon for the thrill of watching the total go down. I checked out at WM today w/ a 75% savings off my bill using coupons!! |

It's really a stress reliever for me - I can leave the stress from work behind for a while and be absorbed into something else - oh yeah, the money saved is great too!

Other--I started couponing for the thrill, but that has spurred my Total Money Makeover. So, now I coupon to pay off debt more quickly. I guess if I was being totally honest, I would say that I do it because I have to because we owe more money than we make, which really means that I am not as privileged as I like to believe.

For the thrill of it. I started b/c I was soon going to be staying at home and it was little stressful going from 2 incomes to 1, but honestly I am so frugal anyways that we can easily live on 1. Couponing and CVSing are more of a hobby and give us tons of stuff we don't need and probally wouldn't buy anyways. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

When DH was laid off in Nov of last year, I made a new habit of clipping coupons and did a lot of web shopping so we could have christmas just on my income...then I made a New Year's Resolution to stockpile a year's worth of toiletries and food in one month for as little as possible and then take the money I would have paid on that and pay down our debt..so far, we have over a years worth of toiletries in our stockpile, enough in our garage sale stash to make extra money for the next two month's worth of weekends, enough food for two month's (with the exception of bread, milk, and cheese), and have one month paid extra on our mortgage, and just settled on one of our credit card accounts that we had defaulted..thanks to the coupons and PP, not to mention I have $32.xx in rebates coming for this month and $38 from last month and $40 in RR in my purse..I will admit the thrill is great, but knowing that we have what we need, keeps me of the Xanax..

I started couponing probably 12 years ago when they had a grocery war here and were doing doubles, triples. It was fun. It was a game. I didn't take it seriously nor did I need the money then.
Fast forward to now where I'm not working with three teenagers getting by on SS and it's a Godsend. Especially now that I'm shopping at CVS and getting extra coupons in trades. |
