The basics on Shaws...if you see anything incorrect or have additional ideas, please post! Shaws: -doubles coupons up to $0.99 -official policy is to double up to 6 of the same coupon per day. I have asked cashiers if I can break into multiple transactions and they have allowed that. -has printable coupons at Welcome to Shaw's Supermarkets -will combine shaws coupons and manufacturers coupons. Some of the shaws coupons state 1 per customer. I have only tried to use one per transaction. - overage works. yesterday I bought an item regularly $4.99, I thought would be 50% off but rang up $0.14. I had a $0.75 q that doubled --> $1.36 overage! LMK if you have other overage scenarios or if this is YMMV. Edit by Jessl - YMMV with the overage. My Shaws in RI does not do an overage - Shaws will take IP coupons as long as they are not for a free item Other thoughts: 1) I have had luck at the customer service desk saying "I've heard you have coupons" -- last time they gave me a booklet with $5 off $50 purchase coupons for each of the following 4 weeks. 2) I have been able to use 2 coupons on BOGO. 3) several times there have been tear pad coupons at the customer service desk, different ones at various shaws locations at the same time. So a good idea to check. CTSunshine Last edited by jessl; 09-05-2008 at 09:59 AM. Reason: Update store info

I have gotten overage at Shaw's too. If I have a coupon for .75/1 and the product is .99, I get the full 1.50 off! I've even pointed it out to the cashier and I've been told "the machine does what the machine does." Works for me! Once in a while (usually when a front end supervisor rings) I have had my coupons that say "do not double" manually clicked to not double. Makes me crazy, but they do have the right to do that, so I just smile and go on my happy way. Makes me not care if I get overage the next time. It all works out!

I thought Shaw's gave you a bag credit, but my Shaw's said they don't. Do Shaw's in other areas give one?

Thanks CTSunshine! I didn't realize that you could ask for coupons at the CS desk and I had no idea how many of the same coupon you could double up to! Great info to share.

I just recently realized that they have a small flyer by the door of my Shaws with summer savings. It is different than the Taste of Summer coupon book. This one is printed on the same paper as the regular flyer. There is a page of coupons near the back. Some of them expired on 7/31 but there are a few that are still good. They are manufacturers coupons not store coupons but have the Shaws logo on them.

Figures, I don't shop at Stop & Shop that much as their deals aren't as good as Shaw's. I did notice yesterday that they have now placed some of their own reusable bags on the counter where they bag the food so they can sell more of them. Maybe if they offered the bag credit, they would sell more.

I requested a copy of the Shaw's coupon policy that my store has up and received one via email. One of the lines on their coupon policy state "The amount of redemption will be credited during the transaction, and will be printed on the register receipt. Redemption may not exceed the value of the item being purchased" This is the line that gave me the issue at my Shaw's last week when trying to use Kool-Aid to purchase the FREE items. The store claimed that the Kool-Aid was lower than the price of the FREE items so it was against their policy to accept the coupon. I disagree, of course. I take that line to mean that they can't turn in the coupon for $5 on say "Wheat Thins" because the value is supposed to be $4.50 or less for redemption on the "Wheat Thins". I also take that line to mean if I was purchasing an item that was $1 but using a $1.25 off coupon, then technically they shouldn't accept the coupon because they are not supposed to change the value of the coupon from $1.25 to $1. How does everyone else interpret that line in their coupon policy?
