I learned I need to scan my Safeway card at the end if there are B1G1 deals at Safeway and if you use coupons to get them both for free the only way it works is to scan the Safeway card last. I read this at another website. It makes sence but sure wished I can get back the $2.00 coupons that Safeway took from me when I used them on the Ken's salad dressing deal. I don't understand why the cashier couldn't at least give them back to me if they didn't even work for me. Makes me mad as ![]() Borrowed from another site: Right now at Safeway the Ken's Dressing is B1G1 FREE (club card price) and are $3.99. Use this with the $2 dollar Kens dressing coupons (one per bottle) and you will get it Free. BUT!!! You must let the coupons ring up BEFORE YOU USE THE CLUB CARD or they will only accept two (the computer will not accept because it the product is free). If you do it before it will take 1 coupon per bottle. I found this out the hard way. I was at the register and the cashier was ringing in my coupons on my 4 kens dressings. He was putting the coupons in and had one left to go (while I was waiting to enter club card after he scanned them). When I thought he had scanned the last one I hit enter (I didn't want it to appear that I was waiting) just seconds before he fumbled the last coupon and it didn't ring up before my card was entered. The last coupon then wouldn't scan because it was free. But the previous 3 did. Oh well, at least I got .50 cent dressing!! And I also got my 2 pillsbury crescent roll coupons in before the club card went through (another b1g1 Free sale on)

safeway I had no problem using coupons on my free Kens Dressings until I hit the last one, but my cashier simply verified I purchsed the items and pushed the coupon through. I bought 5 dressings and 5 spritzers, and put my club card in at the beginning as I was trying to track my movie ticket deal. Perhaps every store/region is different.

Our cashiers here in Chicago all wait until you find your Safeway card or "kindly" ask for your phone number!! There's no getting around it. No... oh... here's my card!

I always tell my cashier I like to scan the card last so I can see the cost before and after the the card. I also do the coupons before the card. They think it is cool too to see the price of the order go so far down. Of coarse it may help that I get so excited as the cost goes down it is kinda like I am winning the lotto everytime I am at the cash register.LOL

Okay I used to work for Vons so lemmie see if I can explain this..... The reason they try to make you put your card in first is because of how the coupons double. Here's an example as it just happened this morning- Pert Plus reg. $4.29 w/card $2.99 - q for $3 I was typing in my # when she started the qs and the $3 coupon doubled $1 so I got $4 off... she caught the mistake, voided the q and waited until I hit enter and then scanned the q again- this time it did NOT double. The computers are programed to take off the difference from the actual purchase amount instead of fully doubleing. It's how they prevent people from getting overages from qs when they're not supposed to be. As for the bogo.... the free item does not get taken off until after your # has been punched in and the cashier must hit total. You can still use 1 coupon for each item regardless of wether or not you have put your # in yet. I don't know how it is everywhere else but now my Vons won't let me use more than 2 of the same qs per VISIT. They're being huge pains about it ![]()

Safeway has changed their coupon policy to only accept 1 coupon on BOGOF deals. So, from now on just plan that only one coupon will be accepted with those deals. This is why I really hate BOGOF sales. I would much rather have the item be 50% off so I can use all my coupons and only get the number I really want/need.
