I have always had a good eye for spotting wayward Catalinas (in random carts, left at the bag-packing area, etc.). BUT, I've stepped it up a bit. Yesterday we were out on Long Island watching all the fancy-schmancy folks buy their beer & soda and whatnot for their 4th of July festivities. I noticed a lot of people leaving their yard-long register receipts on the ground (litter bugs!) or in carts, etc. I grabbed a few. There are so many great beer & soda rebates going on - how could I not?!??! LMAO ROTF

So what do you do that's quasi-garbage picker-ie?

I'd pick a beer receipt up in a second.I gave a guy in the store 2.00 for his budweiser receipt.I should have followed him first to see if he was gonna toss it

I'm worse then shopz - now I've started asking strangers for their catalinas almost as soon as the cashier hands them to them.

I pick up receipts if I see them but not off the ground or in the trash. If it's left in the cart or at the ed of the belt I take it. I got lots of meat MIR's like that Since they don't require UPC's most of the time.

LOL I've picked them out of the trash and even tore them right off the machine they printout of. I got 2 packs of Kools that way today for $2.20! And the same coupons I "took" printed out for me, so tomorrow, I'm going to do it a few times.

You're not alone! I take them off the machines at the self checkouts, pick them up off the ground & take them out of carts - haven't asked anyone for one yet though!

I "look around" in the parking lot for them on ground and in carts. I never go through the trash though. I always feel like everyone is looking at me!

Well along the lines of asking people for the Catalinas - do you remember McDonald's MONOPOLY last year?

The chicken selects were the cheapest value meal and also the only one you could get a medium and get Best Buy Bucks.

I have 2 McDonald's nearby filled with non-english speaking laborers who eat there because it was the cheapest place at the time..

I was in there panhandling and garbage picking the BBB's for almost 2 weeks, I was coming home with 50 bucks a day for like 10 mins of . Great job, I wish they would bring it back

I always look and take discarded receipts. Took advantage of the $15 surf/meat rebate recently b/c of someone's tossed receipt.

I always look for rec and catalinas. I don't go out of my way or anything but hey if they are therei'll pick them up i can usually find some kind of use for them

No ~ I have my 3 little angels trained to do that! It occupies them while I shop and I reward them with a pack a free gum for doing it!

i love the holidays when people are buying deli trays and shrimp platters always tons of good rebateable material to be found all over the parking lots
my fav is a little grocery outlet that doesnt itemize
when i have alot of rebates or offers to send out off i go and
gather my treasures

My family has no shame.

My boys will go through the UScan trash in a second. At one Kroger, we were even called "white trash" because we were not concerned with our children's health or safety. C'mon, its all paper products.

Also, my husband has went as far as taking the trash bags that have been taken out of the cans. He will throw them under our cart and stroll on out. Only been stopped once and the guy was really apologetic that trash had been put under our cart, LOL!

I look for them everywhere, outside, on the registers, you name it!
People often give them to the kids when they see them plundering through the trash for them!
