Re-occuring sinus infection?? Ok let me back up a bit... the week before xmas I got bronchitis and a sinus infection... couple rounds of antibodiotics and lots of sleep...all better.. second week in March I got an upper respiratory infection and a sinus infection... more antbodiotics and sleep.. all better.. So low and behold I wake up last thursday and feel horrible... guesssss what... I have a sinus infection... and the beginnings of a respiratory infection... So has anyone else had this issue?? Any advice?? Right now I take zrytec daily for chronic hives of unknown cause (yep I paid a doctor to tell me that)... and have moderate to severe allergies for everything on the standard scratch test... nothing has really changed in my rountine... and the doctor really doesnt seem as concerned as I am... PS This is also why I am slightly behind on sending out some RAOK.. I apologize...

You need a neti pot. Seriously it works!!! You can find them in WAGS and CVS stores. It has made a HUGE difference for my DH doing that before bedtime each night. He hasn't gotten a sinus infection since clearing out the last one by using the neti pot. That's saying something for a guy that continually got them!

I had this issue when I was on singulair... and that is like the one side effect that hits a very small percentage of the population... well i was the lucky winner.. haha.. but that was 4 years ago... since then I have maybe 1 sinus infection a year.... now that I am working on number 3... I am just exhausted.. I barely got my wind back in the sails from the last round... I read up on zyrtec and I didnt see where it made you more suspectible to sinus infections.... though I didnt get to read all the way through it either...

Here's my natural remedy......hasn't failed in many years! It has stopped the sinus infections completely and has helped a lot with allergies! DH sometimes uses a drop or two on a filter for his sleep apnea machine! There is a natural product called Tea Tree Oil and it is taken from the Mellaleuca Alternifolia. You can find a small dropper bottle of this at Wally World or any health food store. Tea Tree is a natural, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal! Now here is the recipe! Buy a small bottle of plain store brand nasal saline. Pop the nose squirter thingy off and drop 2 drops ONLY of the Tea Tree Oil in it! Put nose thingy back on it and use 3-4 times a day as needed until sinus infection is cleared up. Since you already HAVE the infection, take your antibiotics and use this. As you know, antibiotics will kill the germ, but not always take care of the nasal/head symptoms. This will and will work as a preventative. As you get better, you can cut back on how many times a day you use it. If no symptoms at all, I use it 2-3 times a week. At the first sign of sinus or allergies, I immediately start with the 3-4 times a day routine. If I get a dry scratchy throat, I use it. **WORD OF CAUTION: If you are one of those that think if a little is good then a lot is better.......STOP!! If you use more than 2 drops of this, it will take your head off! It is strong stuff but it works!!

If I had to do the allergy shots it was going to be three times a week at a clinic that is 30 minutes from where I work.. unfortunately this isnt feasible at this point... plus that is a lot of freaking shots.. haha.. the doctor even mentioned that he wasnt sure I was a good canidate since my allergies are so broad... it would be something that I would have to do forever and may not actually get the full benefits from it.. he actually pushed me towards the meds and elimination of as many possible allergens within my home..

I am highly allergic to sooooo many things! The allergist asked me did I live in a bubble!! I have very few problems since I started doing this. We use crockpots on the floor for humidity because I have the respiratory problems as well. I would almost bet that you would see a big difference. It's not a one shot cure all.....it's an ongoing thing, but it's natural!

I had the same thing happen. They gave me an inhaler as well, that has really worked. I also got a really strong antiviral med to take for a week. I'll have to see if I can remember the name. I was sick for like 6 weeks then I finally went to the dr. Have been back twice. It just wouldn't go away no matter what I tried. She also told me to start taking 1000 mg of vitamin c a day at least. I'm finally starting to feel better! It has been like 3 months with this crap.

Thanks .. I feel I am a lil better knowing I am not the only one.. My dr though really doesnt seem concerned.. I think that was the bothersome part. I am not one to complain about much.. and I usually dont go to the doc till the last possible minute... however this is the third time so close together it really didnt take much before I was just physically exhausted. Hence I got meds before it was a full blown respiratory infection... Still feel like crap though.. I slept 12 hours last night.. and it felt like 2 hours...
