| i just bought this gateway a few months ago( and love it)because i had a compaq presario for almost a year, nothing but problems, the hard drive went out twice!the second time was 3 days after 1 yr guaranty,they wouldnt honor it. im not sure if the one in the pic is the exact same one, but i think it is,just a lil warning to yas. |

| On the other end of the spectrum, I have had two compaq's and they have been wonderful. My first one I had for 5 years and only had to get it debugged once, no other problems; I only replaced it to get a newer model and the second one I got 4 years ago and it is still workiong wonderfully, I had to debug it once about 6 months ago. |

| We have 3 compaqs right now and have had 4 in the past. Never any problems on any of them. I have always bought them the day after Thanksgiving. |

| yes i also had a compaq b4 that one, thats why i bought compaq again,maybe mine was just a fluke i dont know,i tried to have them replace it because of all the problems but they wouldnt. |

| That does stink Kim, I have a mini van that has it's share of problems and I was ready to call it a lemon. In fact my warranty ran out and the same problem is popping up again. So I know how you feel. |

 i loved my way old compaq armada!!!i was really bummed when i couldnt upgrade the poor thing we still have it!!never once had a problem except just to old poor thing... |

| OK my gateway laptop hinge just busted and it is going to cost $300 to fix it. This sounds like a good deal. Has anyone tried it yet? And also can you use all of thoes codes?? |

| Both the laptops in our house {which are really old and dead now} were Compaq's and we adored them. My desktop is a Compaq, the first 'real' computer I've owned in over 10 years. For a decade I used 'home made' franken-computers that my BIL would build for me when I paid for parts. I had a Compaq from Sears back in '96 and the thing was CRAP, sounded like a small plane engine about to take off, the drives knocked, it was rather scary. Like anything, sometimes you just get a bad one. My current desktop I got in 9/06 and it's a Compaq from Fry's {here we have an electronics store named Fry's, not to be confused with the grocery store some of you have named Frys} that my old boss bought me when my other one gave up the ghost. I've had no hardware issues with it at all. Sure I get the occasional problem but they're usually related to spyware/adware/etc. Can't block all the bugs out there. The laptop on sale isn't the latest and greatest, but with 160gig and 2gig RAM you're looking at a very nice computer and a huge upgrade from anything more than a couple years old. |

| CAREFUL!! Website had problems and doubled my order!! Called CS and they were able to cancel the second computer but because the free gifts are shipping seperatly the were unable to cancel them and they are charging me full price for gifts! CS was extremely nice and told me to refuse delivery to get proper credit. I gonna be waiting by door for delivery guy now! |
