Hi, ![]() I thought it'd be nice to see where all the H-E-B'ers are from. So, tell us, where are you located, do you shop at a regular H-E-B or an H-E-B Plus, and what is your opinion of H-E-B? Inquiring minds want to know. ![]() I'll start... I shop at a little H-E-B in Gatesville. It used to be the only store in town, and I have to be honest, when it was the only store, they were horrible. The prices were high, the produce was awful..literally it stunk when you walked in the door, and they only ever had maybe 2 checkers. But, after we got a Super Walmart our H-E-B has cleaned up it's act. They now keep the store clean, the produce is better (not great, but better), and they've added a deli counter. They now open extra lanes when the store is congested, and I now enjoy shopping there. I enjoy their sales, although, the best deals I usually find are unannounced sales. I try to go in there at least a couple times a week so I can scan for a new sale. Tell me about yours... please. ![]()

I have a little HEB in Lake Jackson. A pantry. I go there for really good deals, but they don't have a lot of stuff I regularly eat, so they aren't my primary store. There is a big, new, pretty HEB Plus in Pearland, about 30 min. north of me that I will stop by on my way home from work (I work in Houston). I also try to go to Central Market for spices whenever I can.

My HEB is 30 minutes away in Port Lavaca. Not super stocked on all items, but I have NEVER had a problem with them taking my coupons!!

I shop @ HEB in Schertz, TX. It is across the freeway from Super WM so they are always having a price war. It's always busy so I either go early Sunday morning or Monday evenings.

I use the Atascocita (TX) HEB most of the time, but I will occasionally use the Kingwood Market HEB. Both are really nice stores, and they're surprisingly close to one another (3 to 4 miles). I use it as my needs store in groceries, but I get my real deals at Kroger or CVS, as these two stores let me stack coupons on top of their sale items. HEB won't allow stacking, which is unfortunate, because it would be the deal winner if it did.

Last week when I went to SWM, 5 of the 6 "kiddy carts" they had, had broken seat belts. It is absolutely rediculous. How do they expect you to put your kids in? Everyone tells me that HEB has the "kiddy carts", but I can't ever find them when I go. |

I have a couple options of nearby HEB stores in Houston. I also like to occasionally make the trip to their Central Market store just to check out the variety of interesting things there (and pick up some fresh juice).

Do you buy your spices at Central Market? Cheapest I have EVER seen. I try to make it up there a few times a year just for the spices alone! And the love dip. I am addicted to love dip.

My HEB's Hi all, We live in the Rio Grande Valley (southern tip of TX) and I shop at several HEB's--one of them a PLUS. I shop at the one in Alamo, and both of the ones in San Juan. I've never counted how many we have in this area but there are scads. One of my favorite features of one of the San Juan HEB's is that sometimes they will put out lots and lots of clearance items. Earlier in the summer I bought about 12 natural or organic jars of peanut butter for around .69 each. They put on clearance all of their expensive, organic soups that were going to expire in a month or two. I probably spent $50 or more but got some fantastic deals and I was even able to use coupons on some of them. My least favorite thing about HEB is that they are often careless in not changing the computer when they put a sale or clearance price on the shelf. I can't count the times I have to ask for a price check (if I have to go check it, I pull off the tag on the shelf and bring it back). Does anyone know if HEB has any kind of a policy of getting an item free if the prices don't match between shelf and computer? (Some stores do). I wish they did because I think they would be more careful about entering price changes into the computer. Linda from South TX

I'm not sure if they have a policy for that or not. I agree that it would definitely be frustrating to have to go through that all time. Maybe it would help to mention to the manager how discouraging it is that the prices do not match. Thank you so much for participating in the Roll Call. ![]()

I shop in Magnolia at a regular HEB or at the Cypress HEB Market. I like the Markets selection better but it's a little further and prices are a little higher. HEB is where I usually get my needs items because they great deals are usually found at Kroger. BUT they do occasionally have great clearance finds. I would buy all organic if I could afford it...well, once HEB had a whole cartfull of organic peas clearance priced the same as regular peas. Well, we are stocked up on peas for a good while.
