Strawberries $1.19/lb at Aldi

I tend to shop at Aldi for things I don't have coupons for or can't get coupons for and produce falls under that catagory for me. I went yesterday and they had Strawberries for $1.19 for a lb package!!! They had a limit of 2 and as is the case with some Aldi produce, you have to dig around a little to find the best package, but the ones we got were just fine! I should go back again today or tomorrow morning for more, maybe freeze some. My kids LOVE strawberries!!!

I will have to check into these. I shop Aldi but I usually pass on all produce there It is not as fresh as I like and goes bad quickly. But I will be looking into this as a freezing option. I had never thought to do that!

Yeah, I don't even kow why it goes bad so fast, but for us it doesn't matter too much since we zip right through it. I hope the price is the same everywhere, but with Aldi I guess you never know. I didn't get a flyer this week either so I had no idea what to expect this week. And Frozen berries are great. They are kind of tart when they are mostly thawed and the kids love to eat them like that, especially in summer. Yum! You can also cut them up, throw in some sugar and they'll be ready for shortcake when you thaw them out!

We buy them, wash, hull them and freeze them whole and make smoothies out of them for breakfast. We also peel and freeze ripe bananas too!
My favorite smoothie:
1 frozen banana(broken up)
4-5 frozen strawberries
1cup pineapple juice (more if the smoothie is to thick)
Makes 2-4 servings
