As many of you noticed, yesterday all our the older threads here at AFC were tagged. The auto-tagger we implemented yesterday tagged all the older threads based off the title associated with the thread. In most cases, the thread titles do not include important key words, thus they threads were not tagged with these words by the autotagger.

We have now disabled the auto-tagger and want to encourage all users to please start tagging your own threads.

What is a Tag?
A tag is a keyword that is associated with the thread. This helps improve the accuracy of search engines.

Some good key tag words would be:
coupon
free
freebie
sample
printable

How do I Tag a thread?
When creating a new thread, scroll down below the submit a new thread button and you will see the Tags area. Enter your tags separated by a comma.


To add tags to a thread, click on the thread to view. Scroll down to just above the quick reply box. Click on the edit tags link in the yellow box.

How do I tell if a thread is tag?
When you click on any of the forums or new posts, you will get the list of threads. Notice the cute lil blue tags. These mean that thread has been tagged.

Where do I view the individual thread's tags?
View the thread and scroll down to just above the quick reply box. There is a yellow box with the word TAGS on the left. The words within the box are the tags associated with the threads.


Why is it important?
This is important because it generates a search cloud for various internet search engines. It will also help when you search for a thread on AFC.

Please note the bigger bolder words have been used as tags more often. Ideally these should be reflective of the general content of the site.
