Free Another way to get free meds

My doctor gave me a script for a new migraine medication yesterday. If anyone else has these, you know how expensive the medication can be! Especially the kind you take "as needed"... the last one was $55 for 3 pills!

Anyway, I just happened to go to the manufacturer website (in this case, the drug name is Maxalt), and there was a link to get a free trial. I printed it out and took to the pharmacy with me, and will hopefully get my first Rx for this med FREE.

So for any new meds you might get, just Google the name and go to their website - you will probably find a printable coupon to take to the pharmacy to get your first script free.

HTH someone!

Albertsons will price match an Rx. In the past I have called Costco to find out the price they charge, then tell the Albertsons Pharmacy and they will match it.

Then when I pick up Rx I like to bring in a $20 cpn for gift card from Rite Aid, then I innocently ask if they still have the policy of adding $5 to the gift card. It always works! I can get the Rx for the low Costco price plus a $25 gift card.

I feel like have have to haggle to get the lowest Rx price.

OMG, I went to pick up that prescription earlier today. They separated the "3 free" trial from the other 7 (script was written for 10 total). So I got the 3 free, and take a wild guess how much the other 7 were?!?!

$60.00 for 7 pills!!
! And that's WITH insurance!

I told them to keep them for now, and I'll see if my doc has more samples if I need more later. Ho.ly. Cow!

I have tried every migraine medication out there so I know how expensive they can be. I tried Maxalt but it didn't work for me after spending all that money for the 3 pills. My doctor finally suggested trying Cymbalta because it can also be used to control chronic pain and it has been the only thing that has helped at all. Good luck, and I hope the migraines go away.

Also be sure to ask your doctors if they have any rebates. DD got prescribed a newere drug the other week & it was not preferred so I had a $40 copay instead of $25. When it go prescribed a second time I told the doctor it was expensive and she said oh I have a rebate for up to $40. I was so psyched a sit turns out she was allergic to the drug so we ahd to get another script, but at least I get the $40 back for the first one!

On another note I used to get horrible migraines, mainly sinus related...my Dr told me to cut out caffiene (easy as I don't drink soda regularly or coffe) and start taking allergy medicine March thru April. it helped! I used to get sick to my stomach from the headaches. Now if they ever act up I just take an OTC sinus med on top of my Zyrtec and it goes away. I know migraines cna be tricky so I am not sure if this would work for all. Some people have a worse time giving up caffeine!

Have you tried fiorinal or fioricet?
My mom took then for her migraines, once I startd getting them they put me on all kinds of meds, nothing help so I asked the doctor for fiorinal and guess what they worked and it cost me 15.00 for 90 of them (He gives me a 3 months prescription at a time) 1 3 x a day not that I need them but I have them when I gets those fierce migraines.
