Journal COBY DVD or BW small TVs...

Do these ever go on sale? (Below $24.99), does anyone know? I've purchased the B/W TV and it works great for the kids....I'm considering the DVD players for Christmas gifts and was wondering if they've ever gone on sale...? Doesanyone know?

Does anyone have the DVD player? How well does it work? Any drawbacks?

Cafe Thanks Bargain Shopper...

that was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. I 've been watching the sales at CVS and so far I haven't seen it for less either. I'm hoping that changes here soon! I'd like to get started on my Christmas Shopping!

The B/W small TV I bought has been working great! So, I'm hoping the DVD player will hold up to small kids too, LOL!

We bought this for the family room and the kids really don't use it, but they have gotten their hands on it a few times and it is good still. my kids are 8 and 12 though. We didn't use it a lot. I finally got my other DVD player to work and let my BIL use this one and now a friend is borrowing it so it has been around.

I am sorry but I bought the Coby when it went on sale for 2 days only for $19.99 and it would only play "certain" DVD's and eventually stopped playing in about 3 months

Do the TVs have digital tuners? If not, they are not going to work after February, and I don't see how anyone will be able to use their portable TVs anymore, because if you hook them up to cable or a converter, they won't be portable anymore!

I have the small B&W Tv in my home office, it has an attached antenna and no HD capabilities (thats why they are so cheap)
They will not work with the Converter unless you live within 30 miles of the city.
Bummer because I really dont want a whole TV/entertainment center set-up in that room, just something to watch the local news and Seinfeld.

Arrow Speaking of DigitalTuners....

:goodpost2:You can get a certificate from the gov for a free $40 certificate towards a new tuner thing after Feb 2009.... I'm away from home right now, so I don't have access to the website (saved on my home PC). When i get home I'll find it and post it. The tuners, I think, go on sale this fall. Of course they will range in price too.

I bought one of the Coby's for my DD at Christmas for $19.99 at CVS and used some extra bucks towards it as well. They run them on sale every once in a while. So far, it has been great. She has it on a tv in her room.

Just a heads up. When you get the certificate, it expires in 90 days and can't be replaced and you can only get 2 per household, so don't order it till you are ready to buy. They have been on sale for months now, but every store usually only has one brand, and I haven't been able to find a brand yet that will let you use a VCR with it properly.
Whoever came up with this digital law is insane. Come February, there are going to be a lot of angry people who won't be able to record their TV shows anymore, use portable TVs, and I think some remote controls aren't going to work either. It's ridiculous to force people to pay for all new equipment. Even if you get the converter boxes with the coupons, you are still paying at least $20 and have to choose which of your 2 TVs will work with them.

A TV with an attached antenna (as these are) will work with a converter, BUT only within 30 miles of the city.
I am over 30 miles out of the city so no go for me.

Last year there was a 50% sign on a shelf the DVD player was right next to it!! I thought I was gonna get it for 10 bucks-Which I had EVB for 6.00 So 4.00. NOpe the cashier said only the items that the tags are stuck to are 50% off. I said well someone placed that one wrong! She so oh well it isn't 10.00 bucks!

A few weeks ago the same thing-with the fishing pole that looks like a pen from Coleman. Had EVB for 10.00 so it would have been free.
Just was there the other day and the stupid thing is still on the shelf by itself with all the yellow tag stuff!
I just said ok an bought the rest of my stuff!

I have my portable tv set up to use for gaming. My inlaws have theirs set up in their kids room to watch videotapes. You don't need digital tuners or converters for that purpose.
