Today I was at HT and one of the wine distributors gave me some valuable information....................I hope you are all sitting down because I DID NOT KNOW THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



WHEN THE WINE TAGS SAY, for example: Save $1.00 on an item with wine purchase IT DOES NOT APPLY IN NORTH CAROLINA!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can read on the back of the coupon, it will say NO WINE PURCHASE NECESSARY IN....and it will list a bunch of states and NC is one of them!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo you actually CAN still get the coupon and use it. If the cashiers argue it just show them what you have learned and tell them to read the back or just kindly point it out to them

I'm not in NC but I know there are several states where it is illegal to require alcohol purchase in order to get an additional discount (on meat, pasta, whatever)

My tags sometimes say No Wine Purchase Necessary and I will highlight it so when they say "you didn't buy wine" I can point to the yellow!

This also applies to all those great Beer refunds out there!

You will never see wine/beer purchase required in NC. Old blue law on the books: beer/wine companies can not require alcohol purchase when offering promotions. This includes coupons and MIRs.

haha! we don't have wine tags on alcohol here...that i have noticed...but we don't spend time in that section...but isn't that mean to take the tag off of the wine bottle it goes to? ( i know we have all done it --- or been tempted to do so! )

Thanks - I got a $3 MIR on cheese and didn't notice that until I read this post. It said "WYB wine" so I tossed it in my "to trade" bin. I just pulled it out to send in myself!

hgagent, the one I have here says "No wine purchase required in AL, HI, IN, MA, ME, MO, MS, MT, NC, NH, OH, OK, OR, VA, WV"

Vivessa, are you saying that it is ok to take the wine tag and not make a purchase? I did not know it was ok to do this.
are the wine tags the same as coupons and rebate forms that are out on display to be taken?

I would not have thought you could do that.
