Reported by the Associated Press and read in the Times News, Burlington, NC paper today:

Consumer electronic retailer CompUSA said Friday it will close its store oprations after the holidays following sale of the company to Gordon Brothers, LLC, a restructuring firm. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

CompUSA operates 103 stores, which plan to run STORE-CLOSING SALES during the holidays.

Privately held CompUSA, controlled by Mexican financier Carlos Slim Helu's Grupo Carso SA, said discussions were under way to sell certain stores in key markets. Stores that can't be sold will be closed.

Gordon Brothers will also try to sell the company's technical services business, CompUSA TechPro, and online business, CompUSA.com. It would be up to the buyers whether to continue the CompUSA name.

Mine closed about a year ago. I keep wondering what new store will be put in where it used to be!

Hi all.. I just quit my job there since they are closing. There will be some good deals. Right now they are at 10-30% off however, right before I left I noticed their Digital Keychains are at 40% off... so they are under $10. Those things are really neat.

I was told that they are looking at being done by Feb just to give you a heads up. Also, they are officially not CompUSA.. they were already bought out completely so keep in mind that all sales are final.. no returns at all!

However, those of you who purchased a service plan of some kind... the company that CompUSA used is still in business and your service plans will be honored. You will have to mail your items to be fixed instead of dropping it off at CompUSA. Ask your local store for the companies info so you have it with your paperwork.

Everything goes ... I got 15 individual wall mount aluminum/stainless steel coat hangers for .50 each!! Biggest ones I've seen are at target for about $4.99 each. I've got plans for back packs, closets, garage. These were in there training roooms, everything is negotiable!!!
