Too many e-mails!!

Friends,

I appreciate all the cool offers that people post here, but I am starting to get way too many offers in my mailbox.

For example, I tried to get the $25 restaurant card that was recently offered. I didn't qualify because I didn't want to buy anything. I did sign up for a few free offers, but it turns out that none of them are really free.

Aside from hitting delete or increasing my junk mail filters, is there anyway to keep them at bay? And btw, has anybody ever really gotten a free laptop?

Thanks for your advice!!

Most of us have "junk mail" email accounts. We use these only to sign up for free offers. Youc an sign up for free accounts from Yahoo, Hotmail, Netscape (just to name a few) I am sure someone has a Gmail invite they could send you as well.

Most of them have an "unsubscribe" at the bottom. I do this about once a month.

I have never gotten a free laptop. It is sounds to good to be true it is! Most emails like that require you to do extensive things.

HTH's!

Thanks for your kind replies. I have been slowly changing this account to my 'whatever' address and keeping the others for the good stuff. As long as I can keep all these 'free' offers in my junk mail folder, I guess I'm okay.

Along the same line, I get nervous about how much of my personal information is out there. Not just name and address and ph. number, but also family, interests in products, info on surveys, etc. It seems that someone could put together a pretty good profile if they tried. I do need to open a separate e-mail account for offers, but to some extent the damage is already done. Anyone else feel similarly?

Same here Tami, but I do have 3 or 4 other accounts that I use now that I know better. I guess that I will just cross my fingers that nothing ever comes of it. If it does then I will deal it but I really think most sites are pretty secure all in all.

I hope you didn't find the laptop or gc deal on here...if you did, please show me where.

Also, I have a "profile" I use for printables--it is very obviously fake. I don't see why I should give my info out to print a coupon.

I NEVER give my real birthday, phone number or anything else. I also just recently got a po box---but one that has a physical address---it was worth it for the privacy. Plus if it is a reputable site than I have another addy for my freinds to use.
I have 5 or 6 gmails that I don't think I have ever even opened. I send EVERYTHING offer related there!
