| I do it a little differently because I have an awful time keeping up with filing. I have 4 of those little coupon files. One is for stuff we use regularly (so I buy it almost every time I go), one is for when Kroger does double dollars (so stuff I'll stock up on when it's free or really cheap, but generally won't buy every trip - like cleaning stuff, air fresheners, toothbrushes, etc.) and another for when they do triple .50's (same idea). Then the fourth one is divided up by stores - I keep stuff like toy coupons in Target or TRU spaces, CVS store coupons in the CVS space, Catalina's in spaces for the stores they came from. That one also has a space for frees & a misc. space for other stuff like LNT coupons or gift cards for places like B&N or music cash, etc. (gift cards for CVS would go in the CVS space, etc) - I just relabeled the spaces from food catagories to the stores I go to regularly...The key to my system is that I don't file stuff in the organizers for doubles & triples, I just tuck those coupons into the elastic, then when I find out that Kroger is doing one of those specials, I file those coupons - that leaves me with not too much to file each week & I can usually keep up with it pretty well. I carry the first and fourth around in my giant purse/diaper bag. The other reason I don't have one of those big boxes is because at this point, I usually have a kid in the kid seat! Hope that all makes sense the way I described it!
Of course, the disadvantage to this is that if I find something good on clearance at Target, I don't have all my coupons with me! If there's a lot of it, I can usually manage to go back though if it's a really good deal because I live near all the stores. |
