Needing help to decide if I should stay shopping at Publix or if I should give Winn Dixie a try. We've been shopping at Publix for the BOGO items and we've been saving about $50.00 on every shopping trip. But I've noticed that Winn Dixie has some different reward programs. Was hoping to get some opinions. Thanks

To tell you the truth I haven't totally decided on this question either... I still shop both. Mainly because the people at publix are so much nicer than the Winn-Dixie. The Winn Dixie I shop at is the one my family has shopped at since I was a child. I know quite a few of the people there and some closely! But they seem to be more on the side of looking at me like I am "one of those". I don't stockpile much more than maybe a month... and I certainly don't clear shelves. However back to the point. If you have fuel perks in your area that is a major plus. For ever 50 dollars you spend (before any discounts or Q's) you get .05 cent off every gallon of gas (up to 20 gallons) when you use your winn dixie card at the participating gas stations. They also have a lot of items that are not only on sale but you get bonus fuel perks for every one that you buy. Last night I got a 18 pack of charmin ultra at 8.99 with .10 cent bonus fuel perks and inside the package was 25 dollars worth of coupons. So to me 8.99 wasn't so bad. In my area Winn Dixie is a bit cheaper on most items and they have alot better deals on meat. Publix on the other hand always seem to have different B1G1's and thats a plus so I usually hit publix for those as well. Hope that helps. |

I only go to Winn Dixie if they have something that I really need for a good sale price. I prefer Publix. We don't have any gas promotions from WD in Orlando either. Also WD is much more expensive than Publix in my area. Plus Publix stores and employees are generally nicer than those at WD and a lot more coupon friendly.

I wish we had Publix, too. I shop there whenever we go to the Panhandle of FL on vacation & love their stores. However, I've got to say that my WD has some of the friendliest, most helpful employees that I have EVER seen in all my years of shopping & couponing. They are VERY coupon-friendly & on my last trip when I reached $3.45 (a gallon) in Fuelperks & saved over $200 w/ q's, RC's, BOGOS & store savings, one of the managers had to come over to turn her key & she was high-fiving me & exclaiming to everyone around me how much I'd just saved! The young male cashier was joking around & hiding my valuable WD card in his apron pocket ~ ! It was a totally enjoyable shopping experience! Thanks to my friendly team on Airline Dr!!!!

I shop for a few good deals at my wd. They have sales like: buy 2 of this and get these four other items for free. Meat deals are good, too. But Publix is definitely friendlier in my area. I get most of my groceries at Publix.

You can always go to both, that way you get the best from both. I shop at both of our stores in Minnesota( Hyvee and Cashwise) and it helps keep the costs down. When I lived in Florida, I shopped at Winn-Dixie...it was cleaner and cheaper....to bad Kash n Karry isn't still around... |
