Unilever Rebate Question

In Sunday's paper (4/5/), there was a rebate from Unilever: buy a ham or turkey, plus $40 worth of Unilver products, and get up to $20 rebate for your ham/turkey....so....

If Breyers ice cream, Ragu, etc are BOGO this week... can I use "cost" of the free item (before it was free) towards the total of $40?

Here's the scenario:
Breyers 5.69
Breyers 5.69 (actually BOGO, so got it for free)
Breyers 5.69
Breyers 5.69 (actually BOGO, so got it for free)
Ragu 2.69
Ragu 2.69(actually BOGO, so got it for free)
Ragu 2.69
Ragu 2.69(actually BOGO, so got it for free)
TOTAL 32.72

I realize that I still have to buy $8+/- more to reach the $40 mark, but does the cost of the items before BOGO count toward the $40?

I just don't want to send in my receipts assuming it does count, and then find out that it doesn't(and yes they will accept multiple receipts!).... Anyone know? Thanks!

It shows it at cost, then it show it as a negative right after that....(They put it on, and take it off, both, right directly after the first item) I'll have to see if I can upload a picture.

The rebate form says" Purchase any ham or turkey and $40 worth of Unilever products between xxx dates...)

I think it should work, I've done other rebates using my bogos from Publix with both prices, just circle the correct prices, or maybe give the company a call and see. I don't know, I hope it works because I'm hoping to use the bogo's for mine.

At my Publix in Alabama BOGO items ring up 1/2 price each. Using the Bryers Ice cream as an example it would ring up this way.

Bryers $2.85
Bryers $2.84
Total $5.69

So this deal would definitely work for me.

My BOGOs ring up at full price, and then full price a second time, with the adjusted value ($0) directly underneath it.

See, I'm thinking along the lines that I bought $40 worth of unilever product, I just didn't pay the full $40 cost for all of it. KWIM? I still left the store with $40 of product. (Ok, I will have when I've finished purchasing all the items, anyway.) That's why I'm thinking it should work...but I could be wrong. LOL!
