| Case discount question...
When certain items go on sale @ WF, I will sometimes pick up a case in order to get the add'l 10% case discount. However, if I also have q's for that particular product, can I use my q's to take $$ off the individual items in the case in addition to the case discount? For example, I have several q's for a particular organic spaghetti sauce and I'm waiting for WF to have a sale on that brand. Once they do go on sale, can I pick up a case, use my q's to make the per-jar price cheaper, then also take the 10% discount on the entire case? I do plan to ask the manager about their general q policies, but I wondered if anyone had ever done this with the cases. Thanks! :-) |

My local WF won't allow the case discount on sale items. You can use manufacturer coupons though.

I wonder, then, if it varies by store. I was able to get the case discount on sale-priced organic lemonade (not Santa Cruz) last week, but didn't have q's for it. I think I'll see if the manager is around today and ask. I do know that the lady I usually see at the register doesn't like a stack of coupons - she thinks I'm cheating the system or something. :o( I'm going to try shopping today (different day than usual) to see if I can befriend another cashier! |

I emailed my local store their policy and this is what I just got back. Quote:

Thanks so much for posting that email response! I, too, found out that I can use q's on my case discount; however, if I have more than 10 q's for any one transaction, I have to request a manager override at my store. Apparently, the system at my WF store doesn't automatically recognize whether I've purchased the items for which I have q's, so the manager has to come over and go over my purchases and cross-check the coupons. Not the end of the world, but I'll be sure to try to shop during less busy times so that people aren't backed up behind me. Also, I found out the hard way that I have to remind cashiers about the case discount. I purchased 2 cases of organic chocolate milk boxes that my kids like and the cashier forgot to apply the discount. Not her fault, just something I need to remember to point out when I'm checking out. :-) |

Yes, there is a picture of laundry detergent on it, but it works for any product.

Yes, I was able to use them all at 2 locations...the one in Willowbrook and the one in Naperville. It does stink when they aren't consistent. I think they should allow you to use them all as they do not limit the number of prints on their site and the coupon itself does not indicate only 4 at one time. So, until they create a policy or alter their coupons I think there is a valid argument there.

I agree, it isn't really fair to limit me to 4 since as you said, there is no official coupon policy plus their coupons do not state any restrictions. I think I'll print off 8 and start small and see if they'll allow it. Plus, she told me I couldn't do one transaction after another, I would have to leave. So I told her I would go put the first bag in my car then come back and do it again.

That is what I did the first time. I bought 4 because I hadn't planned on finding them so inexpensive. The second time I bought 20, but the guy was real nice and gave me the case discount and clued me in. Sometimes if I think I am going to be in that situation I say something like, "oh, I can only use 4? I must have overlooked that. Can you show me where it says that so I don't make the same mistake again. (seconds pass) Oh, you don't see it anywhere but remember your manager saying it? Well, in that case can you bring her/him over so that he/she can show me? (manager comes over aggravated from being pulled from their quasi-important roost that resembles an office). Hi manager, Joe Sch-Mo was just saying that there was a limit on coupons. Can you help me understand where that is printed on these coupons, cause I can't seem to find it?" (seconds pass again) Typically something like..."well, lady they aren't meant to be used that way, (key inserts into register to approve), but, I will approve it THIS time." My standard response AFTER approval..."oh thank you manager, maybe next time you will be able to show me where it says that"...ta-ta! Man, the things a gal has to do these days to properly use a store's own coupons! Imagine their expression when you start stacking... !!

I agree, it isn't really cost-effective to restrict me to 4 since as you said, there is no formal voucher technique plus their reductions do not scenario any limitations. I think I'll create off 8 and begin little and see if they'll allow it.
