| New limits on coupons?!?! Plus FREE Dial Soap!!
Hello all my fellow Wegmans shoppers! There was a coupon in the 3/13 RP for $1 off a 3 pack or larger of Dial soap, or a bottle of the liquid stuff. At Wegmans in the bins they have up front, there is a pump bottle of Dial soap for 99 cents. I love when Wegmans makes it so easy for me!! ![]() Next...I worked at wegmans until I had my daughter 14 months ago and the coupon policy was as follows: We can double up to 4 like coupons. If we noticed the customer had more than 4 coupons that would double, we were to hit the non double button before we ran the coupons through. That being said, we could take as many of the same coupons as long as they did not double. There was a guy who would always come in with about 50 of the same Q, about 4 different Qs and go crazy shopping. A couple months ago, a manager walked by as I was checking out and decided to butt in and take a snoop through my coupons. I had 6 like coupons and she gave me the run around of how I was only allowed four like coupons even if they did not double. I then told her I worked at Wegmans as well, and at my store that was certainly not the policy. She quickly mumbled to the cashier to put my 6 coupons through this one time and left. Today at Wegmans I was purchasing 7 Dial soaps and after the second coupon, it kept coming up as needing a cashier override and it was saying too many coupons. I have never seen that before! She overrode them all, as I don't think she was paying that much attention...but TWO? That is a little insane. Normally, unless i have an inordinate amount of coupons, I only like to use 4 at a time. I thought that was reasonable. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks! |

Was it possible the problem was that the Q was for $1 and dial was $.99 ? Did the first 2 go through ok?

Yes, they went through fine. I always wait to put my shoppers club in until all the coupons have gone through. They were $1.79 before I put my shoppers club in.

Same thing happened to me. I bought 8 soaps and the first 2 went through fine and then my other 6 coupons all beeped. Pretty sure it isn't related to the policy but that actual coupon's wording. I think it's coded to be $1 off of 3 packs of 3 or 3 soaps not $1 off of a 3 pack of bar soap or 1 hand soap. 2 coupons went through fine because I had purchased 8 but to use a third coupon it was looking for 9 soaps. At Harris Teeter I bought one 3 pack of soap and the coupon beeped with a message about quantity not reached. The manager agreed and said if you needed to buys 3 packs vs. a 3 pack the coupon should state packs or soaps not pack or soap. The next day I bought 3 3 packs and the first coupon went theology and the other two beeped. You could definitely argue the wording on that one I would think.

Question, though - without the shoppers club info, when they try to scan the coupons in, will it still double the other coupons? I thought you needed your club card for the doubling. TIA |

I have never needed a shoppers club for doubling. I actually worked at Wegmans for a few years up until about 15 months ago...No shoppers club needed to double coupons and even though it says limit of 4 like coupons will double per transaction, that is not true. You have to hit special keys on the register to prevent them from doubling, and although no one ever really shopped with coupons, when people would, I would never stop their coupons from doubling, unless they were rude |

$1.79 at our store. I'll use my coupons at Giant Eagle instead.

Sadly, I agree with you. I think the new show Extreme Couponing (while fun to watch) is going to create some big changes. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm already noticing my stores getting nuts, and I am only a casual couponer!

That's one reason I try to go when it's not too busy, plus I try (esp at tops which tends to be more likely to reject a coupon once it beeps vs working on it) to place the Q's on TOP of the product I'm buying and point out prices for BOGO or Free Q's so that they see that if it beeps it's probably their systems upgrading. and usually if there's a line and it beeps, I take back the Q and go to Customer service with my receipt and they'll give me the cash for it, which is almost a better deal for me
