WalMart Android Cell Phone Plan $45/mo?

Does anyone have this, is it for each person & what phone do they use?

I heard from a neighbor who doesn't speak English very well that this is the plan she got at Walmart for $45/Mo. Is that for each person, and must you buy your own phone as well?

Looked at Walmart.com and got even more confused. ThanksZo

Depending on which phone you get, it will use AT&T or Verizon towers. Straight Talk is really TracFone. They're a virtual carrier, not a real carrier like AT&T. They have agreements with other providers to use their infrastructure.

If you have better AT&T service in your area, get a GSM phone. If you have better Verizon service in your area, get a CDMA phone.

I would look into T-Mobile's prepaid plan. The service is great, data is very fast, and the plans are great! They just introduced a $30 plan that is great for people who use less than 100 minutes. For $30 a month, you get 100 minutes, unlimited texting, and 5 gigabytes of data (I never go over 200 megabytes.) Best of all, they have a very good android pphone, The Samsung Exhibit II, for only $200, and its 4G!!! You have no contract and there are other plans that include data that start at $50 if you use more minutes. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile (a Classic plan) and am saving $100 a month (We have 3 smartphones.)

My sister uses AT&T's GoPhone service. She gets 250 minutes and unlimited messaging for $25. I'm not sure about data. I know they have unlimited everything for $50. You can use any phone from AT&T (or any unlocked GSM phone) too. T-Mobile might be AT&T soon too! Hehe.

A network sharing agreement is more likely. 8)

Are you interested in signing a two year agreement, or do you want to stick to the no-contract?

I have had TMobile service for the past three years, and have been pretty satisfied. Today, my husband and I made the move to Android phones by going to walmart and buying the prepaid Samsung Exhibit II 4G ($198.99... I think it's $195 online tho).

THEN instead of buying minutes, we went to TMobile and asked them to upgrade our service on those phones for $89/mo (2 yr contract, family value plan, 1000 whenever minutes, unlimited talk/text).

So far, so good. I love my new phone and I can't wait to search for deals on it! Best of luck!

The Straighttalk Android uses Sprint service. It's good in my area and I love not having a contract and surcharges. No complaints at all, my son and I both have the phone.

Walmart also has a service that uses T-Mobile. It is $45 a month unlimited and each additional line is $30 a month.

Thanks for all of the responses in my thread. We want NO CONTRACT, less oop. Our area in the West uses USCELLULAR,
and for 2 basic phones. No texting or internet for 2400 minutes between us it is $122 per month, our 2 yrs have expired.

We don't need internet or texting phones, and are un-techie's. I really need help, very good ideas here-a heartfelt thanks. Wonder if any deals with a regular push button PLAIN Cellphone?

Do you actually use all those minutes?

Try checking your coverage for AT&T here: AT&T Coverage Viewer and Verizon here: Verizon Wireless Coverage Map.

Do either carriers have good coverage in your area?

And to answer your question, GSM and CDMA are different technologies. Only a few countries use CDMA. The rest of the world uses GSM. Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers in the US. AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM carriers in the US.

I LOVE my straighttalk phone. I buy the 6 month card and only have to worry about it every 6 months instead of a bill every month. And I can text or talk or 411 as often as I want. LOVE love love it!

You're probably better off to go with Straight Talk and get a phone that will work best in your area. On another note, US Cellular has unlimited minutes for 2 phones for $119.99 now.

Edit: I just noticed that US Cellular has prepaid plans too. It's $50 a month for 1 phone. It comes with unlimited minutes and messaging. Don't you love how prepaid with the same company is cheaper? You would think customers bound by contracts would be given the discount, not prepaid customers.

Scott09-I checked out your links, Wowsa! Yes for both AT&T and Verizon. Learned the words: "Coverage Maps", great.

Yes, the USCellular unlimited minutes with 2 phones for $119.99 + Tax is what we have now for $122.00, DH told me.

The prepaid plan you mentioned sounds so good too! We's save $22/mo.
Seems like for just plain phones with no internet or texting that it would be less.

3 options-thanks everyone.
OK, going to have DH read this, thanks Scott09!!!!

When you are comparing a prepaid verses a contract service you really need to look at the amount of taxes you have on that contract service. We switched our office cells from Sprint to Boost - same service same phones but unlimited everything. The tax rates for our Sprint services were 21.5% but the Boost is 6.5% for sales tax ONLY. So not only did we save a ton on just the phone service we saved a massive amount on the taxes. For what we paid just for one of our phones on Sprint we have 2 phones on Boost.

SLance-now that's an important eye-opener!
Our taxes when on the contract were $12/month-never noticed that before.

I know that Virgin Mobile offers unlimited everything (talk/text/data) for $55 + taxes and also has Android phones. They use Sprint's network.

I wish that Virgin Mobile would offer better phones, but for a prepaid mobile company it pry has some of the better phones.

Because of credit issues (all major medical bills I'll never be able to pay off) and trying to save to move into DC from the suburbs, I'm sticking with them for now. Once I move and my credit improves some more (using a secured credit card and paying my monthly bills on time - even early), I'll pry switch to Verizon because I badly want an iPhone or much better Android phone.
