| Expired Items wal-mart
This morning I went to wal-mart with my 1 yr old (that was a mistake) and when I was putting away groceries, I noticed that 3 of the yogurt cups were expired! I called them and they said that I have to drive back to return them. Has anyone had experience with this? My local grocery chain will give you free items (non expired ones) if you find expired ones. Will Wal-mart do anything like this?

My neighbor had this issue she complained 1st to the store manager nothing was done. I then gave her the corp. phone# she was told this would be addressed immediately and a tank of gas for the trouble of having to return the molded expired product.

I would definitely try the store manager first. They may not give you cash for your gas but the product free and a gift card would probably be an option. I don't have any experience with this subject but I worked at walmart and have been submerged in it's culture for the past 5 years. You may have to raise a little fuss. Maybe ask for the store manager first before you deal with the person at the service desk that can't really help you and will only frustrate you further. I hope it works out.

A similar thing happened to me at Kroger about a week ago. I grabbed a 1/2 gallon of Organic Whole Milk (which always has the longest shelf life). When I got it home, I noticed it expired the day before. I called the store and they got the manager on the phone. He told me to wait until my next visit and ask to speak with him, bring my receipt, and he'd refund it and give me a new one for free. Of course, I did just that and he graciously kept his promise. - Nashville

I ended up getting the 3 yogurts replaced free and they refunded me the money for the original ones that I purchased. The customer service lady told me that they just hired a new grocery manager, and that may be why this happened. I also made sure they pulled the expired ones off the shelf so that people don't get sick.

I have found that I have to check dates on any perishables I get @ wm. If I buy any thing with a lid I make sure I lift it and make sure the container is sealed. I don't know how many times I've bought things that were expired or have been opened! It's as if they make sure to put those ors in front so some unsuspecting person will take it without checking! I also have to check boxed items, too. They like to partially open/crushed/damaged boxes on front too. Sent from my iPhone using AFullCup |

I think from now on I will get all my perishables from HEB.
