I bought 10 of the i-motions and used 10 coupons. I had no problems at all. The cashier got approval first because I had so many, and the register beeped at the end and the cashier said it was because I had over $50 in coupons, but she pushed it through, no problem. I would have gone through the line 10 times if they insisted, but that's just ridiculous. You're getting the same items, and making problems for everyone in the process when you have to do that.

I used four $3/2 Pull-ups wipes coupons today at my local Walmart, and they made me do 4 transactions. It seems like a waste of labor and nobody could tell me exactly why I had to do it. The cashier said the register wouldn't accept more than one like coupon in a transaction (which I think is untrue because I used a dozen of those coupons at a different Walmart two days ago in one transaction) and then said at least they accept more than one - the manufacturers don't like that. The lead cashier had some other reasoning for splitting into transactions that I've forgotten now. Anyway, they were very nice and pleasant so I'm not complaining about them but it's clear there is some coupon weirdness coming from higher ups at that store and apparently at other Walmarts. The only annoying part is that I had to use cash because I wasn't gonna swipe my card four times, you know? Oh well.

I felt like doing 20 different transactions and pulling out all my pennies to pay but decided that just wouldn't be fair to the people in line behind me or the poor cashier that doesn't make up the rules.

I got 2 of the same item yesterday (Nerds candy), and had 2 q's, and they took both. BUT, I got 2 Olay Quench Lotions, had a q for $3/1, and a BOGO q. After the cashier had scanned all my items and I handed her my q's, she pulled out her glasses and read each coupon repeatedly. She then announced that she couldn't use both Olay q's, even though I had 2 Olay items. She said that if she did that, I would be getting both for free. Told her no, the first one is for $3 off the first bottle, and the 2nd q was to get the 2nd bottle for free. Then she said, "well, you'd still be getting one for free", and I told her that was because that is what the coupon says-buy one, get one FREE... So she scanned the BOGO first, it took off the 5.97, then to make her point after she scanned the rest of the q's, she scanned the $3/1 q, and it beeped. She handed it back to me with a smirk as if to say "I told you so". I think if she would have scanned it first, everything would have been fine, but she was adamant that I was NOT going to get 2 $6 bottles of lotion for $3. Tried to tell her that I didn't want them then, and to take them off. She looked at the people behind me, smirked, turned to me and said "you're already getting one for free. If you want to use this one, you have to buy another lotion." and gave me my total. So then the people behind me start complaining about people with coupons. I just paid for it (choked down that $6 for lotion!) and left, since she made it seem like I was a greedy imbecile. Was I wrong? I had 2 mq's, and 2 items, didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I think I'm just going to stop trying to use the good q's at Walmart, and go to Publix or Kroger, where they welcome my q usage...Not worth the headache, and humiliation I got yesterday at Walmart...
Dag! That's too bad she bullied you. I probably would've bought the lotion too.

In the last 8 months I went there one time, and that was for the I-motions several weeks ago and even then I went through hell - I bought 9, and since they said "one coupon per purchase" (I had 9 coupons for 6.00 off) I did 9 SEPARATE transactions. I am not polite when it comes to making people behind me wait. I really dont care if they're in a hurry. I was child-free that night, and so I had allllll night to spend there. They were angry but hey, who cares.
See, I think it's the store's responsibility to have an adequate number of cashiers - as I see it, you weren't making anyone wait. The store's silly policy and the lead cashier not calling up more cashiers were the reason for the delay.

Your post reminded me of a tagline on a blog I like: "Find another checkout line, honey."

You are right. IT is the CSS or CSMs responsibility to get more cashiers up to the lines. Most of the time (like at the Walmart I work at), we are just very short handed. Customers are impatient though. I cant stand when a rude customer comes up to me when I'm checking them out and complains about how long they had to wait. They even tell me that we need to get more cashiers. I always tell them to make a complaint because I've mentioned before that we need more cashiers.

I went to WM the other day. I had 5 coupons for cat food. The cashier told me I could only use 1 coupon per transaction. She was willing to ring my up 5 different times and take my coupons that way. I was so mad I told her I did not want the items. How is it cost effective for them to do 5 separate transactions instead of one?????

OMG! I thought I was going nuts! I am SOOOO glad someone said something about this issue! The WM I ALWAYS shop at w/multiple coupons in a transaction pulled this stunt on me the other day, w/the Snuggle coupon! I had "purchased" 2 in 1 transaction. She had the manager come over and tell me that it is one per transaction, even though I am "purchasing" 2! I thought it was cause the cashier was kind of a newby! What a pain! I just told her "well, do 2 separate transactions". . . the poor lady behind me decided it was taking too long and called a relative long distance to say "hi"! Oh boy! Why is WM doing this... seems like a waste of their time and ours! Good luck everyone!

I think it's interpretation and poor communication. The WM store I shop out is right across the street from the main WM Corp. building and I very rarely ever have any issues in there. There are few cashiers I tend to avoid due to a bad attitude though. I've never had any issue with using multiple coupons in 1 transaction.

Wish I had more options as to where to shop. My last trip to WM, I had my $1.50 off and B1G1 for the Glade tins, the cashier not only told me I couldn't use them together(even after I tried to explain to her how it worked)...but she refused to even try and scan them through. The head cashier was right there too. I mean, how hard is it to scan a couple coupons?
