Two Transactions on one receipt

I shop at my neighborhood wags because they are very friendly and I almost always get the items I want in stock. However, the recently got the new registers put in and the first time everything went smoothly. The second, it kept saying my coupon was expired and it wouldn't take it. It was supposed to expire at the end of the day but it was still good. They adjusted the price of the item for me, but it was a bit of a pain.
Today, I did two transactions and the first one I paid pop 2. 64. I used my coppertone $10 RR to pay. The second transaction I purchased another copper tone and used collate RR and a filler. I paid oop 4.64 but I didn't get my $10 RR. I waited for the manager and he said it's because I used it to pay. Even though I paid twice my receipt printed the two transactions together so it didn't give me my $10 RR.

I know this must sound confusing because I still have no idea why I paid twice. Yet my coupon has both transactions all included in the same receipt. Is this something that is happening with the new registers? Is it to prevent rolling RR's? I hope it's not so!

I don't know if there's a Colgate RR

BUT

the $10 RR for buying 2 coppertone is now a dead deal. It ended last night. for this week, you get them @ B1G50 (comes up to 25% off each) with no RR promo. The window period for getting the $10 RR wyb 2 Coppertone PLUS the early activation of the B1G50 was good ONLY yesterday when stores activated this week's sale prices.

I have no idea why 2 transactions would print on one receipt since receipts print with each payment and after that is considered another trxn.

I saw this very thing happen to me yesterday as well. What happen was I did my first transaction, gave my MQ and RR and then paid w/ CC. I scanned my card and pressed the "credit" button. When the "Waiting for cashier" msg came up I saw more items being added to the Tx. I guess as long as they don't hit the "Payment" button, they can add items (but not remove them) at that point. Luckily I caught it and the mgr had to void the Tx. I don't know what would have happen if I tried to complete the second Tx together with the first, probably the same thing. That is a strange glitch with the new registers.

Yes, that's exactly it. I paid and after I swiped my debit card for the second transaction it added the items from my first transaction. So I guess only cash when I go to Wags now. Thanks! I wasn't sure if it was just me going cuckoo for cocoa puffs!

As long as the cashier presses the "Payment" button when you swipe your card so you can press the "OK" button there shouldn't be a problem. My cashier was just getting ahead of herself. Luckily I caught it so I didn't have a RR issue.

new registers

I work at Walgreens as well and with the new registers the cashiers really need to pay attention to what they are doing. They need to totally complete one transaction and wait for the receipt to print before starting to ring again. We have run into it a couple of times and now that they all know to do that it's fine. It's easy enough for the manager to post void the transaction and ring it over. I do that if there's a problem with RR not printing. Happy to help with the coupons and get our customers the best deal.

Today everything went smoothly. The funny thing is that the Manager at the store is the one who rung up my transactions! Lol

It's the new registers. I've had similar transactions where I watched the values increasing after swiping. It's as though it recognizes the coupons as a credit against a debit card payment....

Sounds like The new registers are tracking credit purchases attached to credit card numbers.... I am not liking that at all. Cash from now on.
