No, it's not that they do it and we don't. We put in super efforts into finding coupons put out by manufacturers that they themselves give us and wag's and other stores get 8 cents to use the coupon. We as couponers are not stealing from anybody , and everyone could get the deals, but are usually too lazy or "too busy" is what they tell me, to get the deals. Store's still get their money it is just not from us. And if you look at the sales rates for the profits of walgreens and the like and remember the nice sales we had, each nice haul we all had they had quite a bump in profits. Then if you look at the profits of the companies, they had huge bumps..... From a accountants point of view it looks good. And did you realize, like mcdonalds, their large coke is what 1.00 plus tax, and they only have like 6 to 8 cents in each one. "just saying"......

Not only that, but if you look at it from the county tax thing, we as couponers probably pay more taxes than most anyone else. where some people may buy a toothpaste and yes spend $4, but we all pay the same tax, but we end up buying 4 or 20 or so , therefore we have paid more taxes to upkeep our county's.....

Many states don't pay tax on coupon dollar amount. Mine is one of them, so a couponer would actually decrease a county's and state's tax revenue.

Correct. In areas like TX and MO where sales tax is computed after coupons, if you use coupons to bring down your subtotal to 0.00, you don't pay sales tax at all and still get all the RRs.

That is why I prefer to have RRs to roll for new RR items because the chances of paying 0.00 per transaction is higher.

I'm just going to make sure I stock up on shampoo, body wash, deoderant, and toothpaste.....those are basically the only things that I need from a store like Walgs. No sense in playing with RR's on junk products and dealing with .01% back loyalty cards. I got a ton of products when I shopped Walgs and rolled the RR's around...but I realized I ended up spending a lot more OOP than it was worth.

True, I forget some states are like that. Where I live though, even if you are getting food stamps, if you use a coupon, they make you pay sales tax on the coupon.....how crazy is that?

Yeah I hope it doesn't affect clearance too much...

I like that when, for example, Covergirl is BOGO50% off, clearance is included!

you're right, I hope that doesn't change.

some changes I've noticed which I'm not sure if it is in isolated stores with SRs ~ when there's IVC for something on sale let's say BOGO HBA with the 2nd item ringing up 0.00, the IVC takes off discount for just 1, not both of them as it used to Although it still takes coupon for both which I hope doesn't change sooner or later.

Have you heard the news yet that CVS is not going to have clearance any more? They are going to donate the products instead. Boooo

we're talking about WAG here and they still have clearance aisles in all their stores that I've been to. And their clearance items vary according to each store's inventory.

mom told me that about their CVS but since she's not crazy about clearance she isn't affected. she told me it's been that way for several weeks now.

I don't usually grab more than I should so I don't mind or care if they have a card to track, I do it w/ cvs and it works out great. Plus, I would love savingstar to be in on the wags deals, like cvs.

This is like a horror movie . I will tell you one day I went to walgreens because I wanted to transfer my 2 prescriptions to Walgreens for the 25 dollar gift card ---what a HUGE mistake both of my scrips were twice the price versus CVS - I decided then and there never to do that again --im sticking to CVS. And as for the new registers if you are using a walgreens coupon they MUST scan that first ,then manufacturer --I dont know how many times I had to explain that to the cashier at a different walgreens. UGH the frustration of cards ---pretty soon we will be a nation of carrying just plastic around!!

Couponing at Wags is already like pulling teeth and because of shelf clearers there's no stock, so bring the card, why not? It's not like it will be worse!

There. I said it.

Not to highjack the thread and make it about CVS, but I've read this in other posts as well about CVS doing away with clearance and donating instead and I wonder where this comes from, because all the stores around here still have clearance items, like the MM Thomas Spinbrushes this week that were clearanced to 1.87.

About a year ago or so, the CVS' around here stopped having special shelves dedicated to clearance items and just started hanging up clearance tags on the items in their usual spots throughout the store. So while the clearance shelves are gone, there's still plenty of clearanced merchandise in the store.

Are there areas of the country where ppl are no longer finding clearance tags at all anymore?

CVS still leaves clearance on the shelves and it will go to 75% off (holiday stuff sometimes goes to 90%).

But in the past they used to have a designated "clearance" section with DEEP discounts on stuff that they couldn't even sell at 75% or 90% off. So you could get something for .25 or .75 that might have regularly been $10-$20. You never knew what would be on it and it was fun to check it out everytime you went shopping as it was constantly changing.

I remember one year CVS had stacks of HP ink cartridges that were a few months from expiration date for .50! Crazy! It's sort of sad that they're "donating" it instead of helping out their customers in the worst recession ever.

Hey all. This is what I was just told by one of the SM's at my closest Wags.

Register Rewards are STAYING and the Loyalty Card is going to be extra on top of it. There are not going to be any limitations/restrictions (like CVS & Rite Aid have). Now he said that was what they were all JUST told at their Manager's Meeting. Like with anything, it's subject to change, but as of right now they WILL BE CONTINUING with Register Rewards and the Loyalty Card is just going to be extra to earn you even more.

Here's hoping he's right and that no changes are made, because if this is how it's going to be, then the Loyalty Card actually looks like a good thing

I was told today you don't have to have the card to get sale prices and you will have to get 5000 points to get a $5.00 coupon and they do not like the card at all and they don't think acustomer will people here did not like it when they had it last year

I read a BA's post in the other site. She said, WAG has (allegedly) reached an agreement with Express Scripts so those with insurance under ES can fill their scripts there again, by September (?!).

If this comes true, I'm one of the happy ones to bring back my RX there

as for the RRs staying and no limits like CVS or RA, sounds too good to be true to me so I will find out if there's a catch . If there's no limits, I don't see the need for a card except to track customers. IF the card becomes optional, I will not get one
