It's sooo far off from the current Wags program that I really don't think they'd go that extreme....or I hope not, at least! |

I have to admit that Wags isn't my favorite to shop at but generally when you get a deal it's really good. This points system/loyalty card will just kill it unless they can get it closer to the way CVS works. Honestly though it seems they're just trying to take away all incentives to shop there.

well, i heard it was a card that was supposed to hold all the wags coupons and work like bi-lo card but they were not sure on the specifics. But there will be a card. ![]() i am going to cry if it works like you guys are saying... |

I was also in the test market for the card. I have never been a big fan of Wags. I'd go for the few MMs if I could find them on the shelves and then quickly spend the RRs on toilet paper or something else I knew we'd need. If I didn't spend them quickly, they'd invariably expire sitting in my binder. I just wasn't good at it. I could remember to pull out the card though. We didn't get all the RR buys that the non-test markets got but I seemed to accumulate a fair amount of points for barely ever walking into Wags - probably through prescriptions since we fill my daughter's ADHD medication there. At the end of the test, I had 3790 points and cashed 2000 in on a $5 Wags gift card. I did the redemption online and was able to immediately print it. IIRC, the other gift cards (like to Subway, iTunes, etc.) had redemption values that were higher. They were like 5000 points for a $5 gift card and probably had to be received in the mail. Honestly though, I really don't think I spent $379 there in the short amount of time the program was active. I must have gotten bonus points along the way for the prescriptions. My daughter's medication is just $15/month and the test only lasted 4 months. The points added up more quickly than I thought they would without me even thinking about it. Since the main problems I have with the RRs are the short expiration and the need for fillers, this might work better for me. |

I just don't get 'management' of companies who make such decisions. I will miss Wags, but thank goodness for CVS.

Honestly I hate shopping at WAGS anyway, this will just seal the deal for me and I won't even have to bother looking at their sales and stick with CVS which I love!!!!!!!

I'm in Central Wi, no CVS's or Rite-Aids here. I miss CVS from when I lived in Md. Since they don't seem to have competition here, I can't see this change hurting them too much. I will give the new program a chance...besides, not like I have other options.

I guess it's because of the quantities I shop in, but I don't like CVS or Rite-Aid. I hate being limited to 1 or 2 deals per card. Also, in my area anyway, the CVS/Rite-Aid deals are so few and far-between and rarely as good as the Wags deal.

Yeah you do get a lot at a time so I can imagine this change will not be good for you. I don't have the room for lots of stuff so I only go crazy on amounts when it's something I REALLY need like TP, etc. My WAGS makes it such a pain to even do the deals that I really do avoid going there when I can. AT this point even if I just get deals at CVS when they come about I will be fine. I always wonder how you store all of that stuff when I see your hauls ! |

My Wags manager just told me the loyalty card & points won't be related to the RRs...not sure exactly what that'll mean for the deals, but I hope it just turns out to be an extra reward and won't affect what's going on now!

Oh, I REALLY hope that's the case. That would be a good way for Wags to increase business (instead of killing it if they eliminate RRs). Guess we just need to wait until Sept and find out.

I don't think couponers alone is what keeps walgreens "alive" I'm sure couponers make store numbers look amazing though

previous post: EDIT: I just googled about this and it isn't looking pretty. I take back what I said earlier! $1 spent = 10 points and 1000 points = $1 to use! So it sounds like you have to spend $100 to earn a $1....that is horrible. Thank God I live near a CVS! To make matters worse apparently the points will be tacked on AFTER coupons meaning you actually have to pay $100 OOP to get $1 to spend![/quote] isnt this just like kmart. thats what the google article said..it seems to be the same idea generally... im for it! a card is alot easier to cart around than rr that get mistakedly expired on us with no way to track..but with the card, we can go online to our individual accounts! yay Last edited by piggypup; 05-31-2012 at 03:56 PM. Maybe this is just me, but panicking over the new loyalty card BEFORE we actually know any of the details seems a bit premature. YES, the Test Market program SUCKED (the Portland, OR test market kicked off right as I was starting to get into couponing and I hated missing out on deals that I read about online), BUT when they discontinued it they made things sound like the program was going to change greatly before they rolled out the new, nationwide card program. Think about how Rite Aid did it - the test program worked well so they eventually rolled it out nationwide. No store would bother withdrawing the program before rolling it out nationwide unless they needed to make significant changes. And remember that they did say "We're in the process of designing a new and improved program that we think you'll really like." when they discontinued the test markets - one can only hope they took all our complaints about losing RRs into account!
