I stopped by Walgreen's this afternoon for the Starbuck's Refreshers. But, they were out. So, I decided to just get some of the 2/$1.00 Dove candy bars, because I had the B1G1F coupons. My total seemed kind of high ($1.46 for 4 candy bars, when I was only supposed to be paying for 2). But, I didn't want to look silly complaining, when I wasn't sure what the problem was. So, I went to the car and looked over the receipt. I saw that 1 rang up at $0.89, 1 rang up at $0.11 and 2 rang up at $0.50 each. For the free coupons, the cashier took off $0.11 and $0.50. Technically, I wasn't overcharged because it did equal $2.00 and that is what I expected to be charged before coupons. But, why in the world would I want to pay $0.89 for a candy bar (or why would I waste a coupon on an $0.11 candy bar). Anyway, I went back into the store because I thought the whole $0.50 should have been taken off. It was Sunday. So, there was some kiddie manager or something on duty. Yet another new person i've never seen before, instead of the familiar faces that were always so great at their jobs. I spent nearly 5 minutes explaining that I wasn't overcharged on the price. But, the coupon value taken off for one of the bars should have been greater than $0.11. He kept saying that I did get one for free. But, my point was that it wasn't exactly free because I was charged nearly double for one of the candy bars. Then he goes into I used 2 coupons and they say 1 per purchase. Relevant to the situation? No. After I explained that all coupons say 1 per purchase and explained the difference between a purchase and a transaction and explained with visual aids that it means I can't use 2 manufacturer coupons on this Snickers bar that's for sale at the register, I was pretty much through. He actually said that, to use 2 coupons, I had to use one, pay for it, then do another order to use the next coupon. I swear, the word idiot actually flashed in my head and I just picked up my stuff and said I would just take it up with corporate. Though, I guess, I could always reference him, if I ever decide to go coupon-crazy and they try to limit me. Really, did he not realize that, following his logic, I would have paid $1.78 for the 2 candy bars I would have had to buy to use the 2 B1G1F coupons? So... in that situation, we wouldn't have been having a discussion about my paying $1.78+tax for something that should have been $1+tax? Geez, I didn't even feel angry because the whole conversation made me feel stupid for participating. I know $0.39 isn't that much. But, it's an astronomical sum, when the item costs $0.50 and should have been free. To me, it's just the principle of the thing. I'm pretty sure, at the very least, Walgreen's is going to fill in $0.50 in that little box on the coupon. Possibly, the maximum $1.09 value. I just wanted to get my free candy bar that I can't actually eat myself.

If the candy rang up that way, Dove must be a Mega Saver item rather than a weekly sale item. They always ring up weird. This is why I rarely use BOGO Qs on Mega Saver and BOGO 50% off sales. Sorry you had to deal with such jacked up logic.

I used a BOGO Free Dove coupon yesterday, I was sure it wouldn't work and it went through no beeps. The Dove singles were $1/2, so I paid 50 cents for 2 candy bars.

I also have a few .50/2 Man q and planning to use those this week (plenty of dove bars in stock).

Can't say anything about issues since I didn't hear anyone at WAGS discuss the product, but I had no problems with the Dove transaction and got the rr.. hth

ok, I giggled through the last half of that!!! I have been in similar situations. It is beyond frustrating, especially when the argument isn't over a large amount of money. BUT, it's the principle of it all. I want to know when I go into the store, the manager knows as much as I do about the store's coupon policy. It makes me want to pull my hair out when I am try to explain it and they stand there looking at me like I have my hand in their pocket, stealing from them personally. I get the whole cashiers get in trouble, blah, blah, blah...but for goodness sake, can the manager at least know what they are talking about?!

It is a tearpad coupon. I found mine at The Dollar General.

Oh my goodness! Next time something like that happens with the prices like the dove bars I'd ask them to adjust the price to make it the .50 each even though it still makes them both $1 u are still paying more tax on one.. If ur state charges tax on the free one. in Kansas I work at a walgreens, and they charge tax on the free item, but in Missouri where I live (45min away) they don't if it's a free item.. Like the refreshers I didn't pay anything with the free q in MO. But in Kansas I'd have to pay the tax on it.! But geeze what a mess. I work in all the departments except pharmacy, I also coupon myself. So if an issue was to come up I'm always willing to help and figure out the best way to make the customer have the best savings! So in my opinion I would of asked for a return and take back your coupons and shop somewhere else or find another friendly cashier that would be willing to help. Fyi- The cashier is supposed to do a return with a receipt and under $25 so if u asked for a rerun they should have done so and return your coupons as well! Hope this helps! :-)
