| New registers
My Walgreens just got the new black registers. I remember reading awhile back that the are differences between the old and new but I don't remember what. Can anyone give me a heads up for things to look out for? Thanks |

A bit off topic but I am somewhat new to the forums. Can you ease explain the bump... To me? I noticed that they do I alot in the trading forums as well. Thanks!

Bump means they are moving it back to the top of the forum for people to read again I don't really know the differences as the stores i frequent have old registers but i noticed they are slowly but surely migrating inwards I do know that if they edit the price of an item with register reward that the register reward won't spit out ... I had that happen on black friday when i went to a store out of my way the computer would not take the coupon so they altered the price to be 1.75 instead of $2 and then the machine did not spit out the register reward |

Good question, I've never even paid attention to what store has what registers. Is it as simple as the color of the register that tells you if it's old or new? Looking forward to finding out the difference. I do know at one store I had MAJOR problems with the Up2U free gum and another store no problem at all with beeps. I need to see which store had which color register and then maybe I'll know which store to avoid with deals like Up2U. |

The new registers have black flat touch screens. They also have updated credit cards machines/software, you should notice a difference if you pay by credit or debit card. I have 3 wags that I frequent, 2 have the new registers and the one closest to me does not. This weekend the one with the new register wasn't printing any RR, I was doing 2 transactions so the manager price adjusted the second transactions as if I used the RR and had to give me credit for the ones that should have printed for the second transaction. He said there was something wrong with the computer in the back that handles the RR. I was not aware that each store has a master computer that handles the RR and communicates with the other registers. It was a mess, but he was very helpful and we made it work.

I like the old registers a lot better (since I already know how they work) than the new but the more I'm learning how to navigate the SRs with the staff teaching me where and what to press when I ask for something, I am starting to like it.one thing to watch out for ~ there are stores where cashiers scan the WAGc/IVCs soon as all items are scanned if you have any WAGc to use BEFORE any of the RRs/MQs. If scanning the RRs and MQs will bring down the amount of the item(s), it will likely bump off the RR and/or the MQ so watch out for your totals and make sure you have an idea of what you plan to pay or you might end up paying more.

One store I go to said they were told by the manager they have to scan the MQ's first THEN RR's and WAGS Q's. That just so happens to be the one that I had issues with the Q's beeping when I was trying to get the free Up2U gum. Coincidence?

I wonder if this is why I did not get my $3 RR for the pepsi next deal today. The store I went to had the new systems, but it work earlier this moring at different a store that had the old systems

I also found out on the new ones if they hit total before your done giving them your Q's they can't scan anymore.

I had a problem today at a store w/ new touch screen registers. I bought 2 lysol wipes, a 1.25 L bottle of diet coke and a clearance easter candy for 24 cents. I had $1 off 2 mq for the lysol wipes, a free coupon for the coke and a $1RR I wanted to use. It wouldn't take the RR at the end and said something about the coupon being more than the item (not a problem w/ the item count - I tried adding another candy and still had a problem) Manager needed to come and manually adj. Not sure what the problem was.

I know that with the new registers they have to scan each item in order to get the RR. It happened to me with the cereal boxes I was taking 4 identical boxes so the cashier scanned one and input the amount of boxes I was taking and no RR came out. I asked her to try it again but scan all the boxes and sure enough the RR came right out.

I hate them The Up2u and Mentos would not accept the monthly q. I was buying 6 gum and they would only take 2 man q's. Manager came over and told the gal to do everything else and LAST take off the 1.00 Mentos q. If I have a choice I will go to the one with the old registers. Even the cashiers said they are very confusing. |

Issues I tend to notice with the new registers. Keep in mind that while they are the same "newer" registers, they can behave differently compared to other stores with those newer registers.
As far as coupons go, I have been seeing less issues with them than I had on the older registers. Still, it can take weeks and maybe even months to figure out all the quirks the new registers, so I probably just haven't ran into any other issues yet. |

The big difference that I've noticed with the new registers is that all WAGS in-ad Q's and IVC's must be entered first and the price of the item actually modifies instead of subtracts at the end. MQ's and RR's are then put in as "payment". This affects the couponer in a way such that there is no way you will receive overage that results from using a MQ and an IVC / in-ad q together. Here's an example. A couple of months ago there was a MQ out there for a free (up to 19.99) Delica One-Touch. The monthly WAGS coupon booklet had a $10 IVC for the same product. On the old registers you could give the MQ first and it would go in as 19.99, then you would hand them the IVC and it would take off the $10, giving the shopper $10 in overage. With the new registers, you would have to give them the IVC first which would modify the price down to 9.99, and then your MQ would be taken at that amount. You could get the item for free, but no overage. |

ok I just got done having a 30 min conversation with a Wags Manager. And Let me tell you They/He hates the new registers as much as you do. He is looking for a new job because of the stress and issues with them, it is making him have a harder time doing his job. Ok here was my FIRST situation I bought 3 pepsi Next Used the April coupon Then Paid with 5RR Making my total 1.15$ And then I SHOULD of got a 3$ RR Because in their add it says purchase 3 Pepsi Products get 3$ RR THe RR Didnt print. Now let me say the RR i used had nothing to do with Pepsi Company So according to the old system the $3RR should print. But it didnt. Apparently Now If your RR does not print out, they have No way to make the register print it. Apparently Now if you pay/use a RR on a transaction, No matter if it has to do with the Company of the item you are getting No RR will print out. So if you want a RR to print out at all, you have to pay with Cash, Credit, or Debt only. So no more Rolling RR So what this manager did for me is, told me go pick something else you want that does not print a RR. and i will take the amount of the RR you Should of got off your transaction/item. So i got TP for $4.00, and he took $3.00 off of it. Here was my Second situation I went in to do the EOS Shaving Cream Deal I had 4 shaving Creams 4 $2/1 Coupons and the Wags April -$3/2 Coupon Then a bag of Mint M&Ms So i had 5 items, and 5 Coupons My total would of been $1.40ish after taxes When it came time to scan the last coupon, the new register would not scan it. It was coming up with a error. TOO MANY COUPONS USED. I was Like HUH what. They called the manager, he tried to force the Coupon, but could not. I was with in the coupon limit. 1 wag & 1 MF coupon per item, and a Filler just in case. I said forget it, and walked out. 5 mins down the road is a Wags with out the new registers. I went in and did the deal with out a filler with no issues. So on the transaction that worked on the old register i had 4 items, 5 coupons, 4 MF coupons, 1 Wags coupon. Apparently, the new registers have a New Limit on how many coupons you can use. Yah. Corporate is gonna hear from me, because i am with in their coupon limit, and rules. yet cant do my transactions, or get my RR back. |

Yesterday I did the Almay deal and paid with Thermacare RR'S and my RR's printed on the NEW register and the OLD register. I did this a few times at each store.

Here are a couple of issues I had just recently with new computers. It would not accept the $7.00 coupon for the Allegra which was $6.99. Manager tried every way possible to adjust down the coupon to $6.99 and would not allow it. This past weekend, I had 2 transactions for the Nivea. First transaction, bought 2 for $7.00, used 2 $2.00 coupons, paid out of pocket $3.35. No RR. Tried second transaction -- still no luck. Called manager over and he told me it had to do with the coupons. He voided both transactions; rung them up without using coupons and both RR then printed. If the new computers don't want us using coupons, I won't be back. Same thing happened to me with the Pepsi Next. I didn't use a coupon with the Pepsi Next but I used coupons for other items which I bought in the same transaction. No RR. When he voided and rung up the Pepsi Next just by itself, out came my RR. What a pain. |
