mixed feelings about RR's

Pros: We are not limited to "one per household".

Cons: They are a pain to keep track of, and to get things to line up with the amount of the register rewards so we don't lose money. Plus, I hate these 2 week expiration dates!

I am totally against "filler items" like gum or candy because I don't need it, and that is an item I wouldn't normally purchase!

Example....I have tons of RR's from my P&G excursion Sunday evening (thanks to whoever posted the $16! Stopped working here in MO, too).

I needed to go do two more orders for some expiring P&G coupons, had everything all figured out, was going to get some rebate stuff. And of course, they were out of stuff I needed. So I had to do some reconfiguring in the store to figure out how to use some of my RR's, I really wanted to get rid of these $10 ones, and my P&G orders were going to come to $9.63 after coupons. Had it figured out to buy some milk on sale, and Quilted Northern rebate for each order so my totals would come up to $16.92 before tax. They only had one Quilted Northern, and milk was expiring in a few days so I only picked up one. Whew!

I have never attempted to purchase a Walgreens gift card with these, but I'm going to reread some instructions I saw here and do it...but it looks like I will need some filler items!

BTW...Walgreens scouring cleanser was on clearance for 15 cents, so I used that as my filler last night, it is something I actually use so I didn't feel so bad!

There is no trick on using these for a gift card. Just give them the giftcard and tell them how much you want on it. Give them the coupon and it's paid for.

Though you can't put 2 RR toward a GC unless you have 2 items. So you can buy a pack of gum and then you will be able to do it.

I just finished my orders for all of my 7/31 coupons. Total from Sunday and Tuesday was 13 orders. They were still fully stocked.

see thats my thing, I have tons of these things!! I don't chew gum (I have TMJ), so I guess I may just go buy a whole bunch of 15 cent scouring cleansers! Hey...at least my sinks will be clean!!

As for the gift card, do you hand them a gift card and have them add on the value, or do you purchase a new gift card, or does it matter??

I did 13 deals yesterday! The way I think I have it figured out is that you have to have as many items as you do coupons. So if I bought 6 hairsprays as a deal, I could buy 2 seperate $10 GC's and use (2) $10 RR. THAT COUNTS AS ITEMS BOUGHT! OR I could buy the 6 hairspray deal and load and RELOAD a GC I already have. By reloading (2) $10's, I could use (2) more RR, in this case I used (2) $10 ones. AND I actually then used those same GC's for that transaction. I had only done this because they voided out one of my transactions that I had used a GC on, it won't show back up on the GC for 24-48 hours, so I asked the cashier, manager, if he would try using those for me and it took them!

What's really frustrating is after doing a few deals, you know more than the cashiers and managers!

Hand them the gift card and have them add what you want on it. Pay for your purchase like you would with the RR. You can have them reload a GC if you want too.

....also, by loading the GC, you are using the RR on that. The RR says "compliments of P&G...not valid on P&G products". I haven't tryed to buy P&G without other coupns and use the RR. I would assume that wouldn't work.

IDEA...if you do need a filler and don't do the GC, maybe pick up an extra newspaper for the coupons!! Or fill with the rebate items!

I filled with things we could use at home...and were on sale that week. My kids picked out Hot Wheels cars, Honey that was BOGO, $1 package of cookies, gatorade bottles, Wylers drink mix (just as good as Crystal Light and $1), $1 whole peppercorns. I figure if I can pay for it with RR --- it is a deal!

Oh Yeah-- What about adding school supplies? -- Pack of pencils, ruler, eraser, pack of paper. Even if you don't have kids.....these things are handy and CHEAP.

I paid a few dollars for my orders but-----I kept my cost OOP under 20% (that includes 9% tax) plus still have a $10 RR in my pocket. ----- So technically after paying the mandatory 9% --- I only paid 5-6% of retail.

An awesome deal this week---thanks AFC for turning me on to it!

DH was even happy last night!

I will definitely use my RR on Sunday newspaper.

I'm at the point now, where my stockpile is so large, I don't buy anything unless it is absolutely FREE!

Are the GC's reloaded in increments of $10, or how does it work??

Ecample...will this work:
I ask them to reload a gift card for $80
I purchase 7 other items.
I hand them (8) $10 RR's, then pay the difference.
Will that work? Does the gift card reload work as an "item"?

I think everyone differs with their opinion of Walgreen's RR and CVS's ecb. A lot of people hate dealing with the whole "figuring out the best deal"..."item count"...etc....also there are some of us who do not have children and many of the fillers that people use are for kids and we really have little or no use for. But you just have to think a minute....what else can i use this for? If I can get baby shampoo/wipes cheap or almost free I use them for my dog. I always add dove dark chocolate bars (my favorite) as fillers when I need them. CVS had Mike & Ike's for like $.16 one time and I picked up several as fillers....I don't eat the stuff but my nephew loves them...think outside the box...think of your extended family...friends...charities....

Yesterday I was in desparate need of cat litter. I knew if i walked into Target or Petsmart to get it I would spend about $10 for one box of the scoopable stuff. So after some thinking.....here's what I did:

Walgreens first trip:

(4) Gillette Disposable Razors $5.99 each
(4) Satin Skin Shaving Gel $2.49 each

SUBTOTAL: $33.92

coupons used:

(2) BOGOF Gillette razors
(2) $3/Gillette razors
(4) BOGOF (BO Gillette Razor GO Satin Skin Shaving Gel Free)

Total oop $6.36
Received $16 in RR

Second Walgreen's Trip:

(2) Tidy Cat Cat Litter 14 pound box scoopable $12
(2) Index Card holders (BOGOF..great for coupons) $.99
(1) Walgreens $10GC

Used all $16 of my RR plus $.50/coupon for tidy cat
Total OOP $7.xx

Now I'm sitting with a $10 Walgreens GC and I'll get another $5 back for the Tidy Cat Rebate.

So after all is said and done I did get my cat litter which I desperately needed (2 boxes) (with 4 razors and 4 shaving gels as a bonus) and OOP was $14.xx but I'm getting $15 back (have $10 gc in my wallet right now).

, I hit WAG twice last night and used the 15 cent cleansers as my fillers too. I figure whatever I dont need, I can donate to the Animal shelter, they always need cleaner.

If you get a RR that says $/certain item or type of item, can that RR be loaded onto a GC? Or is it just the $/$ RRs??

you can do it in any increment - i did $16 last night 10+6 with 2 cans of mushrooms - u may be able to only buy 1 filler because on another order i purchased 2 cans of mushrooms and was able to use+3 coupons over my other coupon items.

i don't think using 8 of the same $10 rr will work - if i remember corrrectly it will say coupon already used - that happened with my boost rr's

give it a try and let us know

Has anyone tried using the same value RR's (from P&G) to get a GC? I hate to be guinea pig after yesterday! I have 5 each left of 10,4,2, and would like to get some of these converted before they expire.

also, does an IVC or WAGC count towards the coupon/item count, or is it MFR coupons only?

thanks!

CORRECTION
I was able to use 2 $10 RR in the same transaction so I guess if your coupon count is right you can use multiples of the same amount - bought $14 gc intending to use $10 +$4 RR and my olay combo and some gift wrap total was 10.98 so I asked to try another coupon and it worked - .98 subtotal but yikes $1.49 tax

so at least in my order multiples of the same RR were accepted - hope that's a good sign for all my $2 RR's
