Question for New Buyer at Walgreens

HI,

They recently just opened a Walgreens in our area. I've never shopped there, and wanted to know if I could use 2 coupons on a bogo deal? (ie: shampoo is bogo, can I use a coupon on the item I'm buying, and a coupon on the item that is free?)

Thanks

It all depends on the cashier at your store. If you use a BOGO and a $1 off coupon on an item that is already BOGO, the register should accept it.

I just did it with 16 bottles and all of the BOGO and the $1 off coupons came off. Though the last 4 of the $1 coupons beeped at me.

Always use the fixed amount first as most B1G1F coups will beep anyway. Be sure your overage is first covered (sufficient other item amounts scanned first).

There are 2 possible causes & it can vary by the POS at each location or more likely by district or region.

There can be a security limit on how many of the exact same coupon or how many from the same mfr that you use. It's intended to stop the rescanning of the same physical coupon (more commonly though programmed into USCANs).

Some WAG POS will not allow mfr coupon overage unless your coverage is from the same manufacturer. This really can even vary by which mfr is involved. Individual items overage can go through until you hit a point where there is no amount of product cost left from that mfr to match against. Often at this point a manual entry will only work if the manager is logged on or enters their key. Or the manual will work if they don't scan the coupon & instead just enter it manually.

If they can't or won't manual, just have a corresponding number of the product (matching the number of unused coups) voided. Even if the final okay scanned coupon matched money partially from one or more of the now voided items, you won't lose the deduction it already made.

An example. You scanned 4 of the same item at $1.99 & then have 4 $2/1s. First 3 coups scan totalling - $6 against $7.96 in scanned items. The fourth coupon now beeps because it's $2/1 & there's only $1.96 left in that product. They can manual the -$2 or price adjust it to -$1.96, or you can void off the fourth $1.99 item (as long as you've covered the now .03 overage with something else).

That was mostly all greek, but I think I understand all that. thanks for the info.

Is Walgreens usually real good about letting you use coupons up to the "free product" point? If you ask them to enter it manually or to take off the last item, etc. are they good abou that? Will they do that on their own or do you have to tell them to?
