In the Dark Regarding Walgreen Shopping

Can someone explain to me some of this Walgreen stuff? How does this all work?

How does the EasySaver work? Is that something you get in the mail? Or can you print from the pdf that is posted? What's with the total earnings chart at the end? And can you explain the rebate on gift card?

Sorry, I'm new to this forum and to deal finding in general, so I'm not sure what I'm doing.

I am not the guru at Walgreens but will tell you what I know...

Easy Saver is a coupon and rebate booklet found at the store. It is published monthly. It is also available on the website.

Walgreens has a weekly ad with coupons also. It comes out on Sunday.

You may also find q's in home mailers, internet, and cash register printouts specific to Walgreens.

Walgreens coupons from either the EasySaver (ES) or Weekly Ad can be stacked with a manufact. coupon to purchase an item. (1 item= 1 walgreens q and 1 manuf q).

The ES has rebates listed that are available for that month. There is a date the rebates have to be purchased by and a date to mail the rebates back by.

Purchase the items required and save receipts. You may do ALL (if you choose) of the rebates listed and the earnings chart is just for your record keeping.

Follow the instructions in the booklet for mailing. (ie circle items and number according to the deal #) You may only mail ONE rebate form for the month. The form will ask you what type of rebate you would like.-- Cash back or the amount to be refunded credited onto a gift card (plus 10% for qualifying rebates).

The booklet is very easy to understand and has pretty clear instructions and information about limits etc.

Hope this helps--- I am sure someone else has much more to share but this should get you started.

Just dive in and you will learn as you go.....Have fun!

In addition, I found out TODAY that you cannot use the SAME EZ-Saver coupon in one transaction. He did say "You can do it in a seperate transaction though" - I didn't have time. So oh well. This is the example:

Bought 1 Soleil Razor System - Used the $2.00 MRF Coupon + the EZ Saver $1.00 coupon.

Then bought Soleil Cartridges - Used a $2.00 MFR coupon and tried to use another EZ Saver one for $1.00 and that's when I got the BEEP.

Now I know.

Was that the same ESC & it included both items? Then you can use it in the same transaction at the registers in my area. All applicable items must first be scanned. Then, the ESC is scanned once & deducts for each item.

Try scanning the same ESC again & yes it will beep because the deduction was already made.

So if you buy 5 bottles of lotions and there is a ESC for $1 off that lotion, when they scan the q, it will take the $1 off all 5?

Yes, with some exceptions in some areas only IF there's a quantity limit & you exceeded the quantity limit. In that case, an additional ESC for the same item won't scan, - you'd need a separate transaction.

Most WAG POS don't enforce quantity limits on ESC or other WAG store coupons. YMMV on a cashier manually enforcing the limit (as many do in my area).

Not long ago WAG seemed to be experimenting in some limited areas having the POS enforce limits (not my area) on ESC & on WAG weekly flyer coupons . I'm not sure if they're still doing that.

Very recently in some areas they seem to be running a new POS experiment where the WAG flyer (not ESC) coupons beep because the reduced price is already given when the product scans. Strangely though the POS is NOT enforcing the limit, but cashiers are told to check the limit on the beep (as a reminder). So all you have to do is watch the price when the items scan & IF you received the reduced price then do NOT give them the WAG flyer coupon.

In above case if you forget & give them the WAG flyer coupon & you're not over limit, it might confuse them & delay you. If you are over the quantity limit, it might get enforced against you.

YVW.

It should have been okay only if all the items were scanned before the ESC was scanned.

Do you hand over coupons before or mid transaction, OR all coupons at the end after all items are scanned?

This is what I've learned at Walgreens regarding coupon overage. I don't do much walgreens shopping with the rebates, etc, however I do shop their clearance.

In my last trip I purchased Aquafresh toothpaste that was clearanced at $.74 and I had mfg coupons for $.75/one. The total price of ALL the coupons on the same product can not exceed the TOTAL price of the same products.

example:
I purchased 3 aquafresh @ $.74 each total $2.22
I could not use 3 aquafresh coupons at $.75 each because the total amount of the coupons was $2.25 (.03 more than the total products purchased). The coupon let the first two $.75 off coupons go through, but beeped at the third. If I had another aquafresh coupon for less I could have used it.

Hope this makes some sense.

That right if it .74¢ the coupon for .75¢ will not go threw. On the easy saver coupon no matter how many you have if it a $1 coupon and lets say you buy 5 you would get $5.00 taken off.
I love Walgreen. Lets say you buy 4 items are $3.00 and you have a $4/1 coupon well 4 at $3 is $12 so you can use 3 -$4/1 coupons and it would take all the coupons as the amount is $12 for both.
I hope that helps but if not and you want to PM me your questions I be happy to help. I in Walgreen almost every day.

Under WAG policy the final coupon could have been price adjusted to -.71, or each coup could have been price adjusted to -.74

Or you could have voided the 3rd item after scanning 2 coupons as long as you had something else scanned covering the .02 overage.

i suggested adjusting the coupon once at walgreens and the manager on duty went off on "coupon fraud"...etc....she basically made me feel like a thief. I told her it was common practice among many stores (including their competitor). I wrote to corporate about her but haven't received a response back from them.

When I purchased the aquafresh I did have another generic product that was a few dollars, so it wasn't like my bill would have been in the negative. I was just told that I couldn't use the third coupon. I've heard that a few times on AFC. Again, YMMV. Depends on your store employees ability to master the register.

These are exactly the experiences I've had at 3 Walgreen's.

1. Even if asked, the ee's and managers will not make any adjustments.

2. The overage applies ONLY to the product(s) for which I have the coupon(s)--for example, Revlon. When they were clearancing Revlon for $2.59 and those $3 coupons were out, I could buy 3 products with 2 coupons but the 3rd coupon wouldn't work no matter how much other (non-Revlon) stuff I was buying!
