Walgreens FAQs

Walgreens FAQ

Register Rewards (RR) FAQs:

Q: What are Register Rewards (RR)?

A: RR are coupons from the Catalina machine that print after you make a qualifying purchase in the same transaction. Most RRs are "On Your Next Order" (OYNO) which can be used like cash on your next order. Sometimes you will get a Catalina for $ off a particular item. These seem to be generated by the purchase of competitor items.

Q: What is a catalina machine?

A: The catalina machine is a little printer machine that sits next to the receipt. It prints out coupons on long, skinny paper.

Q: If my sales flyer shows RRs for tylenol and kelloggs, can I buy them both in the same transaction?

A: Yes. If you buy different register rewards items in one transaction, one reward for each RR offering should print. However, you need to make sure they are really separate deals. If they are both Johnson & Johnson products, both of your RRs may not print. It's probably better to do separate transactions.

Q: Will my store really let me do separate transactions?

A. YMMV (your mileage may vary). I tend to do no more than 2 at a time and go when they aren't busy. You can also do your transactions over several different days during the ad period.

Q: Can I use more than 1 RR per order?

A: YMMV. The RRs now have language which says that you cannot use more RRs and coupons than number of items you are buying. My store interprets that to say that I can use more than 1 RR per transaction.

Q: Can other store GCs sold at WAGs or stamps be bought with a RR? Can I buy gift cards with a WAGs GC?

A: Most RRs explicitly say that they can not be used on any gift cards or pre-paid cards. As of right now, they do not say you can't buy stamps. You can use a WAGs GC to purchase other store GCs.

Q: I just got a $5 RR from the Kellogg's deal and I want to use it to buy more Kellogg's items. Can I do that?

A: This is known as "rolling RRs." You can use a RR from Kellogg's to purchase more Kellogg's items, BUT most likely you will NOT get another RR. Your best bet it to use your Kelloggs RR to purchase another item generating RRs. You can then use the RRs from that other, unrelated item, to purchase more Kelloggs.

Q: If my ad says Buy $15 get $5 do they calculate the $15 before of after coupons?

A: The amount is calculated before any coupons are taken off.

Q: My RR didn't print. What can I do?

A: Call Catalina at 1-888-8coupon, option 3. Make sure you have your register available when you call. They'll determine why your RR didn't print and if applicable mail you one via first class mail.

Easy Saver Catalog FAQS:

Q: Does WAGs have their own rebates?

A: Yes. Every month WAGs prints its Easy Saver Catalog (ESC) which is available online and at the store. The ESC contains store coupons called instant value coupons (IVC) and also has easy saver rebates (ESR). Each month WAGs usually offers 1-6 free after rebate items (FAR) as well as approximately 30 other rebates. You can choose on the rebate form to either receive your rebate in the form of a check or a WAGs gift card (GC). You can use a GC you already have, or you can request a new one each month. If you have your items placed on a GC, you earn 10% more back on your rebate (except for offers that exclude the 10%). You can use your GC to purchase next month’s rebate items or to purchase gift cards for other retailers. No UPC is required for most WAGs rebates unless noted in the rebate booklet.

Q: How do you submit your ESR?

A: You can submit your rebate via mail or online. If you select to send your rebate online, you must send it to the address listed in each month's ESR (the PO Box changes every month). You are required to send the original receipt(s), with the item circled and labeled by the number of the ESR you are claiming. You are only allowed to submit one rebate per month, so it's usually better to wait until the end of the month.

Most people elect to file their rebates online, by following the following directions:

~~Go to EasySaver Catalog
~~Click the "Claim Rebates" link in the 2nd box on the right
~~Login to your account (or create one if you don't have it already)
~~Click the "start/add receipt" link for the current month
~~ Click the box next to the items you purchased (a check will appear in the box) then click the "Continue" button
~~ For each receipt with rebate items, enter the 20 digit RFN number. When done, click "Save Receipt"
~~Click the "save and return later" button, and then repeat during the month as you need to add more receipts. Once you are ready to submit your claim, click the "Continue" button.
~~Choose your preferred payment number (if you want the balance added to your existing GC, enter the GC number). Click the "Continue" button.
~~Click the "Claim rebates now" button. Note that once you have clicked the "Claim rebates now" button, your rebate is submitted, and you can not add more receipts. Make sure you enter all of your receipts by the end of the month because i you do not click the submit button by the end of the rebate period, the system will automatically submit any receipts you have entered.
~~Make sure you keep your receipts until you receive your rebate. You will get an e-mail detailing the rebates which have been approved. If you need to use the receipt for a different rebate, make sure you keep a copy.

You can check the status of your rebate by clicking on the "check rebate status" button.

Q: Where do you see the # of rebates allowed per person?

A: The ESC tells you how many you can do per offer.

Q: If I use coupons on FAR items, will the price of the coupon be deducted from my rebate?

A: No. Your rebate will be for the price paid BEFORE coupons, RRs, etc.

Q: WAGs is giving a $5 rebate WYB 2 tuf stuff garbage bags. They are on sale this week B1G1 Free so my rebate show I paid $5 for one and $0 for the other. Will I still get my rebate?

A: Yes, the offer is for buying two so your purchase will qualify, even if it is a BOGO sale.

Q: If a rebate states $15 get $5, would I have had to purchase all $15 on one receipt?

A: You can buy separately as long as the total meets/exceeds the purchase requirement.

Q: Can I submit my rebate late?

A: YMMV. The ESR has a "postmarked by date", but members have reported submitting their ESR after that date and still getting paid.

Coupon FAQs:

Q: Are IVCs store coupons or MFR coupons?

A: The accepted view is that the IVCs found in the ESC are MFR coupons and can be combined with MFR coupon on all items (including regular price, sale price, clearance and rebate items). You should also be able to use a WAGS 7-day in-flyer coupon with an IVC and a MFR coupon, but that is definitely YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Q: Do I pay tax on the original price or after coupon price?

A: In most states, sales tax is charged on manufacturer coupon amounts but NOT on store coupon amounts (in-flyer coupons). The IVC are treated as MFR coupons for tax purposes.

Q: Are the limits on IVCs and in-flyer coupons enforced?

A: This is YMMV. The computer is not programmed to recognize the limits on the coupons. If it says limit 2 but you buy 4, the discount will be provided to all 4 items. However, the store does have the right to limit you to the number stated on the coupon, though they rarely do.

Q: Does Walgreens give overage?

A: Walgreen's policy is not to give overage. However, it is YMMV. Don't ever count on overage, but make sure you have purchased enough items to cover any potential overage.

Q: If a 7-day coupon says 5/$1, do I have to buy 5 or can I only buy less than 5 and still have them ring up at .20 each?

A: An in-flyer coupon will reduce price for each item, even if you buy less than 5.

General FAQS:

Q: Do I need a store card at Walgreens like I have for CVS?

A: No. There is no Walgreens store card. As a result, WAGs cannot track how many times you do a specific deal.

Q: When do the online ad previews at walgreens.com go up?

A: Usually the Thursday of the week before.

Q: What is WAGs contact info?

A:

Online: Comment Form
