Question about COLGATE deal (Kinda rant)

So in the past week 2 of the 3 Drug Stores had MM on Colgate and WAGS has their turn up next. I have seen posts by people who have been told that using Qs on FARR items is horrible and shouldn't b done (Grumpy Cashiers) Now I am sure that Colgate is absorbing some of the cost of this toothpaste. Otherwise it is extremely random that they all decided to give you "free" toothpaste.

So let's assume they are chipping in $1 of the "free" part and the store is chipping in the other $2. Using this scenario aren't you saving the store money by using the Q's? In the case of WAGS on 2/27 ad they have the toothpaste for $2.99 if Colgate absorbs $1 then Wags absorbs the other $2. If you use a coupon then you ar cutting $1.08 off of WAGS "loss" on this deal. So whn the cashier starts complaining about you using coupons on FARR items pont out to them that you are actually saving the store money by using it.....Just asking.

Most, not all, look like they could care less if the store is saving money...

None of these FARR items are STORE discounts. Every Register Reward is just another Manufacturer Coupon and is paid to the store just as any other coupon.

Most of the Wags Q's are Manufacturer Q's as well. They may be coded as a Store Coupon and treated as such...however, each time that code is used, a report is then produced and sent to the manufacturer to be paid (or some similar scenario). That is why they must be processed after any MQ's, because otherwise, the item already has a Q attached to it.

The $.08 needs to be left out of this equation. I know people LOVE to say the stores are MAKING money by us using Q's, because they make that extra $.08.

However, the stores have overhead costs that are necessary to deal with our coupon use. You DO realize that someone has to count up all of those little pieces of paper, prepare them for reimbursement, shipping etc. And prepare reports necessary for the manufacturers that ask for them. The stores are paid reasonable shipping as well.

Yes, these are jobs that the store is supplying to someone - great! But they are positions that wouldn't be required if they didn't have coupons do handle. I am not saying that there are ONLY positions dedicated to coupon handling. However, there are many hours that must be paid to people to do the job.

THAT is what that $.08 is covering. It's not as if they just take the bag of coupons that each store receives each day, drops them in a box and expects them to be dealt with. It just doesn't happen that way!

I think that every person that uses coupons should read a Coupon Redemption Policy. Most of them are pretty standard. I think it's our responsibiltiy to know how things work so that we know what to defend and what to accept.

Here are a couple from different companies.

I personally like this one, because it does spell out exactly what that $.08 is for!!

OH, and one more thing. I believe - and could be wrong of course - that this sale is being utitlized to clear the shelves of current stock because they are changing packaging.

Often times coupons are put out for new products. We all know that. But sometimes, sales and/or coupons are used for this too.

I know that they are changing the packaging of some Colgate - I have seen them on the shelves already AND have seen commercials, too.

They are changing them to stand up, flip top type tubes.

This would explain why all of the drug stores are having these "free" or "MM" sales.

And it would also explain why in all of the stores I have been in this week, the Colgate that is FREE is very low stock or none. I would think that since this is a month long sale, they would have stock available or new stock coming in. That is not the case according to a couple of people I have spoken to - they said what they have is what they have.

Of course, as I mentioned, I could be wrong. I am just saying there are possibilities like this.

Thanks for the info that explains why the big COLGATE stockup of the past month . Yeah I know they have to count them and send them in I used to work at a grocery store but we didn't get a ton of Qs so I can imagine the extra work of a WAGS or RA.

I'm a little confuse by this, does this mean?

Coupons are non-assignable and are void if transferred from their original recipient to
any other person, firm or group.

I rhink it means that if a coupon is sold from one person to another they can technically say it is VOID because you are not the original recipient. How they can prove that 100% I don't know.
