I called my cousin lives in MA to run to wags and get free mascara...she was busy so she told me when I get to the store I will call you - I said ok, she gets there and calls me...she started looking for the mascara and she can't find it and the ladies in the store had not idea where it was...really crazy, right? Then she finds it and asked me what should I do so I explained to her and said get the little coupon book and get the coupon from there and then do your thing...she said there is no book, so she left frustrated 'cause the people were not helpful...I called her back and asked her what happened so she told me she left so I am here telling her go to another store and do what I asked you to do and she tells me, I got $20 to spend on mascara...I laughed and said...GIRL, you are not going to spend that much money on mascara!!! She finally found everything at the other wags and called me and we went through the same thing until finally she gets the mascara and does what I asked her to do and then she called me back and tells me of her ordeal and I asked how much you paid she said $0.58 cents and the cashier called the mgr, b/c she said there was no way she was going to let something like that go...the mgr was like, it's fine she's all set!!! I am proud of myself and you all for teaching the ropes!!! It was funny I was instructing her like if she was delivering a baby... Thanks!!

LOL that is great! My mom never shops Wags either. I called her to tell her about the Almay deals and she had me meet her at the store to show her what to do. After shopping there and Target with me for an hour or so she said "your getting me hooked!" She had a whole bag of makeup for $10.. and now she has RRs to use so I can show her where to go from here!

i tried to tech my sister but, she just couldnt get it. even when i laid it out to her
for example on the snuggle deal i even rounded up the price of the snuggle to 5 bucks and told her this

buy 8 snuggle at 5 each is 40
(i had three free coupons)
so take off 15
the i have 5 -3 coupons so take off another 15-
plus my hubbys discount took another 4 off which made 8 snuggle 6 bucks all she kept asking is how i got 7 free snuggles so i worte her 40-15-15-4=6
and she STILL didnt get it...so i gave up ^.^ i will just have her give me the money and i will do it for her so i am very proud you could teach her the ropes

I hooked my mom about 2 weeks ago too. I got $70 worth of stuff for like $6.00. Her jaw dropped and then we had to go back the next day so she could do it too. Now sunday morning she calls me first thing asking if she should get more then one newspaper and to email her the deals list.
Lucky her to have access to a Wags, Rite Aid and CVS. We just have Wags here.

I think I created a monster , but their retirement savings tanked when the stock market crashed last year so I'm really glad I could help them out this way. If they don't have to pay much of anything for personal care supplies that helps them have more cash for other areas of their life.

When I was visiting her a few months ago, I took my mom to the Kroger in her town. She wanted to pay for it at the beginning and as the cart got fuller and fuller, she was worried and kept asking me "are you sure this isn't going to be over $$?" It was during another of their mega sales, and I kept reassuring her that it wouldn't be more than that. She was still skeptical until she saw the total after all the coupons. We walked out paying $20 for more than $200 worth of groceries. Now every time we're in the same town, she wants to go again and get that much for $20. I wish the deals were always as good as they are during the mega sales!

It's so nice of you to watch out for your parents that way. I live a day away from mine but have a part of my stockpile on the shelves and in the freezer that I take the next time I go or pack her car with when she comes here. I know she'd never buy much of the things that we're getting for free, so that feels good that she will have snacks and convenient foods and good soaps and things if she wants to have them.

Yup, Just got my parents hooked on couponing. We just got back from visiting them and I took them on some deals while I was there. They loved it! Well now they did their own first deal at Walgreens this week with the Almay. Then headed off to Kroger! They were there every day this week! They are totally hooked and both are on AFC now...

They are building a binder and are putting storage areas in place! Love it!

Ladies-
I have to tell you that my Mom has alwayed used coupons- though not very well, I'm learning. Our grocery stores double up to $.99 coupons. I was telling her about a deal- which included a doubled Q and she didn't get it. I later learned that she didn't know that the grocery store doubled Qs?! I was dumbfounded to say the least. Baby steps- I'm just taking baby steps with her.
