I was surprised when my cashier insisted that she will scan first my Man Q before my RRs. I said go ahead. And guess what happened, the last RR beeped, it says I exceeded # of coupons. For 4 Quakers, I handed her 3 diff RRs + 1 MQ + Wags in ad. I told her, RR should be scanned first before the Q. Anyway, this was for the Quaker deal. The $1 RR was returned to me. I ended up with a higher-than-expected-OOP. I let it go.Next transaction was the Dove deal, and I told her, let's scan the my Man Qs first before the RRs, cashier wasn't comfortable doing it, so she paged the Manager. Manager said that Man Q must be scanned prior to RRs. I told her, I've been doing RR-then-Man Q ever since and wasn't told otherwise. She said, it's a new policy and she says it on the website and in the ad. She was saying something about store being robbed...something to that effect. I let it go again. I checked the ad at the back when I got home and it does state, "Coupons must be presented at time of purchase". I'm not sure if this is the one she's referring to though. Oh well, cashier told me that I had a good deal anyway with the shampoos. My DH laughed at me too when I told him I'm sad bec I had to pay $1.96 for the shampoos and $1.29 for the Quaker. I guess this is the effect of getting used to having stuff for almost free. But I'm ok now, I wasnt' just expecting that. Good thing I only have two simple transactions. Anyway, if they are going to strictly implement this, the strategy '# of coupons-may be- equal- but not more- than the # of items' will not apply anymore, like what just happened in my case. |

with the quaker it is because the q was 1.25/2. if you had a cheap filler you would of been fine.

Mine said they had to do the RR first. But I have to know my total to do it that way...LMAO. So I just hand them coupons in the order that I want.

Just curious--why is there a difference in OOP when the RR's are done last vs. being done first with MQ's?

At my Wags it completely depends on the cashier. They all have their preferred order to scan stuff. There is one cashier who thinks she has to manually figure each coupon combination to make sure you aren't getting things for "free" if you pair a Wags coupon and a MFQ. But she can't really do math in her head so it takes forever. Oh well I just avoid her. |

When I went to Wags the other day, my favorite cashier said to scan the RRs first. On one deal, she messed me up, causing one of my mfg's Qs to beep. Had to add another candy bar as filler. I prefer to scan mfg. Qs first because mfg. Q is only good for a particular item. You can use RRs later on something else. A long time ago, I wrote down 1. Wags Qs, 2. Mfg. Qs 3. RRs. Now, it depends on who you ask but I definitely think RRs should go last because they are not product specific. I don't think the order affects how much sales tax you pay any more. I think you pay sales tax now even with coupons. |

I always hand over Mfg Q, then Wags Q, then RR's. One piece of paper per item as a rule of thumb, unless it is a $ on 2, is always beepless for me. |

I read a post that stated that the Wags Q should come last. If you don't, it may be included in your coupon count, which may mean you have to add another filler. I may be wrong but...maybe we should ask sleepy!

As for the MQs first.. tell them to read the print on the RR it IS a MQ! . Thankfully my wags never seem to be order picky. |

I just recently got brave enough to pay for my items how I WANT too! I simply get the total then had cashier the RR's, then had them the mq's and lastly the wag q's. I can't believe how many LESS beeps I get this way! It's awesome!!! My OOP is running lower too so that's wonderful as well. Just don't hand them to the cashier all at once.

The order I give my Q's are 1.)RR 2.)MFR Q 3.) Wags Q I try to make sure I have more items than Q's so that the MFR Q's will not beep.

I always hand mine in the order I want them to scan.. RRs then MQs then Wags Qs.. however, last night I ran in to get a few quick things and had some RRs that were expiring so I had to use them up. I had 3 RRs and 1 MQ.. I handed the cashier the stack with the MQ on the bottom and he looked through all of them then scanned the MQ first. It was ok on that transaction.. nothing beeped. But now I know to check for my fav cosmetic cashier next time I go in to do a big purchase. |

I stood there arguing last week with a cashier who wanted to scan the in ad first, then mani. then RR's. I told her if she did that we'd get beeps (I had a $3/2 coupon that I wanted to hand last before the in-ad coupons) I stood my ground and she finally relented after I told her I really didn't want to have to buy another filler just because she wanted to scan the in-ad coupon first.

My favorite cashier absolutely insists that I give the WAGS coupon first. He says that it prevent beeps, but I know that's not true. I ran two of the exact same transactions - the first one I gave RR, MC, then WAGS, and there were no beeps. The second time (after he told me I should give store coupons first) I gave WAGS, RR, MC, and it beeped. He overrode everything anyway, but I sometimes want to tell him, "I told you so." But he's super sweet and I guess I'm not that mean ![]() As long as your cashier overrides everything, I don't think it particularly matters. Tax for me is charged on the price before coupons anyway. You should just make sure you have enough fillers so each coupon can attach to something. Thank goodness for $.09 clearance Halloween pencils!

Another way of looking at it is that when the MFG Q's get your balance way down, you can save your RRs for something else.

If they do not do it the RR, MQ, then Wags way, I just go to a different one. I never fight because I know that a cashier can potentially become an ally and aid in my pursuit of the deals. I, as many of us do, have cashiers we frequent because they do it the way we need it to be done to complete scenarios to our best advantage. I only lay down the RR first, once they complete those, I then lay the Man q, once done I then lay the Wags q's out. And I do lay them out. They just pop the gun over each one and scoop them up.

This issue has been discussed for a long, long time and everyone has a different philosophy. The best thing to do is hand the coupons to the cashier in the order you want them scanned. If they balk at doing it your way, go to another cashier or another Walgreens store. That's my opinion. |

Something to keep in mind when handing over yours Wags IVC's first is if they lower the price of an item you have a Mfq Q for it may be too low to use the Mfg Q. Case in point, Riccola a week or so ago had a Wags IVC for 2/$3. By using my BOGO Mfg Q first it took off a higher $$ since the none IVC price was 2/$5. Mfg Q, Wags healthy Q then IVC made them a money maker.

Especially when it is a BOGO or a free item, I hand that first before an IVC so you get more off. |
