Yesterday, one of my local stores had a rack, with a 50% off sign. But, it also contained $0.29 jars of meat-flavored Ragu spaghetti sauce and $0.28 12 oz bottles of Nice! original pancake and waffle syrup. The expiration dates were later in 2017 and 2018. So, I don't understand why they were on clearance. I got 7 jars of Ragu for $2.03 and 5 bottles of syrup for $1.40.

Sometimes they just decide not to carry a particular item (or flavor of an item) any longer and thus mark it down to get rid of it. Probably didn't sell well enough or something.
