I know that the clearance (and $1) sections disappear, when they start to set up for the Christmas holiday. I seem to remember last year that the stuff in the clearance section was really priced to move, just before it was replaced. But, I can't remember if this happened in October or early November. Anyone have any insight into the general time Walgreen's store start to move out the clearance sections? I found some Lexmark cartridges at a store about 30 minutes away for $19. Not really a deal now. But, I don't want to miss the have-to-go price. It's too far away for me to just keep checking for the big price drop.

At my stores, its usually the first week of November, give or take a few days.

I work for Walgreens. At my store corporate has already sent markdowns for some Halloween items, but we really mark down everything the day after the holiday. Each store manager controls how far the items are marked down once we start to clear the aisle. Corporate gives us a deadline as to when the aisle has to be reset with the next holiday items. So, at my store, how far the items are marked down is usually determined by how much stuff is left. My store manager does not like to pack stuff up and store it in the stockroom for the next 10-11 months... so he usually marks things really cheap. Hope this helps! Forgot to add- We have to have Christmas completely set around the 5th of Nov. At our store we start changing as much as possible the week of Halloween. (ie. removing the dollar section and the clearance endcap) So, that the day after we only have to focus on the promo aisle.

I was in several Wags today and all of them have started putting Christmas out.

They were starting to put some things on the top shelf (maybe to store it there, until putting it on display) on Tuesday morning at one store.
