I was at my favorite Walgreens, and was told that the manager is not allowing them to take any manufacture coupon, when we try to pay with a register reward, in the same transaction. Has any one else have this problem. I had called corporate and got the same BLAH BLAH, we all get when we call or email them.This has created a big issue in the store, Assistant Manager agrees with me ,she thinks we should be able to use a man. coupon and a register reward in the same transaction. But the store manager is the one that keeps saying NO!!!.I'm lost!!, I have no idea what to do. I really like the cashier there, they are really nice,.. what can I do

I live in Silicon Valley and shop at a lot of our Walgreens stores. What store is giving you problems?

It's in San Jose, Ca .. I'm guessing that you have never heard this.. It's the one located on Bird Avenue .

Sorry to hear that.

IF, like you say you have contacted corp and they are saying the same thing,

I suggest you just find other stores to shop at. Cross your fingers that it is NOT district policy or else all stores under the same DM will implement that policy.

That's what I'm afraid will happen, I asked the cashier this morning about it, he said it was coming from the store manager.. I guess I need to wait and see what he has to say.

I have shopped at many of the San Jose store and never had this issue.

My suggestion is to ask them to show you the written policy that states this. I have found that since most stores don't have written policies (from corporate or mgr) on hand, they have to default to what the register does.

On a side note, I teach classes here in the Bay Area and even assist people on personal trips occasionally. Would you like me to come with you to deal with this? I'd be happy to :-)

Sorry to hear of your bad trip...never heard of not being able to use Mfg coupons with RR's. That manager needs some training. If that Walgreens is your only store, perhaps go later when a new manager is onsite and maybe he'll have a better understanding of coupon usage since corporate is of no help?

Thanks for your input, I really like the cashiers and that Assistant Manager there. I know I could go and push some buttons and ask to see the store manager and argue why I think he is wrong, But I really wanted to go about it the right way. The cashier said that I could still continue using RR and man coupons when he is there, but I DO NOT want him to get in trouble or evem fired.. I think I just need to go to another Walgreens.. we have about 10 nearby.

as you go along, you will realize later on,

the path of least resistance is the best route to take. Here's hoping other stores in your area is a lot friendlier.

Instead of calling corp, I suggest you call the district manager. They are the direct supervisor of the store manager. You can call the 800walgreens number and then tell them you need the dm over thaqt store to call you back. Make sure they know you want the dm, not the sm. When my store first opened a few years ago, I was told that same thing. I called the dm and she got it all worked out for me. My store still has the same sm and he is super coupon friendly now.

Try the one on Snell. I visit my mom and go there all the time. The CVS is across the street. Now Riteaids in San Jose are a pain.

I have had the exact same problem. For those of you not having this problem, do you have them scan the RR 1st then the MQ? My cashier scanned MQ then RR and it beeped. The asst. mgr said that I needed 1 item per coupon. Any ideas?

I think you should print the weekly flier that states coupons in most Sunday papers. I know it shows up on the new fusion razor coming out. Then ask him if it's good enough for corporate why isn't it good enough for his store!!!! I also live in the Bay Area and had a store manager like him. But after many calls to corp and customer service he changed his policy and was tranfered within 5 months.

to be clear, when you say MQ, are you referring to the WAG booklet IVCs marked as mfr coupons? If so, I don't understand why register would beep if you're paying with RR and the IVC.

But IF you meant a regular mfr coupon that you use with an RR for just ONE item, the register will beep whatever you give last because basic rule is 1 coupon per item.

This is true. You can not use a MQ and an RR on the same item because the RR is technically a MQ also. However, if you were using an in-ad Walgreens store coupon & an RR, that would be fine. But, you can not use more MQs than items being purchased.

i am in central ca east of you and just this week i am getting hassled at all my local wags over this issue. one very nice cashier told me to present the rr first and she voided my trans and redid it for me so it wouldn't beep. she is the only cashier though who is that nice at that particular wags
