OK, so, I have a pile of those Bayer meter coupons. I'd like to ask the local store manager to order 20 meters for me. How do I do that?

When you ask the manager to order extra stock for you, what do you say? How do you explain how you know there's a deal coming up? Have you ever met resistance?

Do I say, "A little bird told me there's a great deal coming up on this item"? Or do I flat-out say, "I read on the Internet that there's a fabulous deal coming up on these meters, which my husband uses"? (That's true, BTW -- it's not the meter he's using now, but he's up for switching.)

I haven't been shopping Wags long enough to have an established relationship with a manager, but there's a cashier who has seen me half a dozen times, so she recognizes me.

I have never been met with resistance. I just tell them I know a deal is coming up and I would rather leave the regular stock to the other customers. They have always been game, because they know it is guaranteed sales for their store.

I am not certain how far in advance you need to order. I know several seem to be doing this, thus many not have enough to get in time for all the stores for this deal. However, if you still want them if they come in later in the month without RR there should be no problem.

The person in charge is the SIMs coordinator or I think there is a new position/title for someone who does that. Get in touch with that person and let them know you want more of an item for an upcoming sale.

If you're just ordering now for the meter sale week of 11/8, don't set your hopes too high that you'll get them. The best time to do pre-orders is AT LEAST 4 weeks ahead of time. The longer time you give them, more chances you'll get them. You need to research way ahead of time to know what's on sale weeks/months ahead.

When doing pre-orders, I suggest you let the SM know your plans like if you need them on X date. if stocks don't come by X date, let them know if you're still buying them or you'll cancel the order if you can't buy them week of the sale. its better to explain that clearly or you might ruin your relationship with the store if they order lots for you and stocks don't come on time and you just abandon the order. Please don't just abandon the order or it gives a bad rep to everyone, especially couponers. Better explain to them and face the consequences than just abandoning the order.

Weigh this carefully or it might be better to just take your chances in finding them in several stores than being pressured to pay for them if they arrive later than schedule. IF your store agrees that you can cancel order when they don't come on time, that is good for you. The other thing you have to let them know is.....YOU plan to purchase them one at a time to get 1 RR per meter. There are cases in the past where there was no pre-arrangements and the store insisted they CANNOT/WILL NOT ring them separately for several RRs. Some customers were pressured to pay for their order in one transaction and got just ONE RR.

Being transparent in cases like this is the way to go. If they agree to your terms, I don't see a problem.

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. Since it's so close to the sale, and so many people are preordering these meters, I think I'll just take my chances. I pass many Wags on my way to work, so I could just pop in at multiple stores and buy two per trip.

I'd much prefer to get them all the week of the RR, but if not, that's okay.

We usually receive truck every week, my store receives it on Saturdays, and must place the order by noon on the previous Thursday. Usually it's about a day n a half between order releasing and arriving @ store. To give you guys a better idea. As a PP mentioned, be as transparent as possible, we got stuck with some overstock because we got delivery a week later then expected and they didn't want it anymore... It just builds a stronger relationship between you and the store mgr.

To those of you who are timid, odds are you'd be the best ones to ask! It's the ppl who have that chip on their shoulder of 'i use coupons, deal with it' that rub mgrs the wrong way. We love coupons at my store, we also usually get ppl to ring in cos who are doing multiple transactions and to step aside in between transactions to help prevent situations where 1 person holds a register for 40minutes.. In fact had 2 ladies do it 2 days ago, they were new to couponing and very nervous, yet were trying to roll like 20 transactions and kept 'oopsing' Cosmetician was with them for over 45mins helping them get it right.

My BFF's mom is a store manager so it makes it a little easier on me. However, I just called her up and I told her that I knew of a sale in 11/08 ad. I ordered them yesterday i think it is. I ordered 37 of them and she was fine with it. The worst they can say is no.

Have you already picked them up? I am wondering who had to write in the serial numbers on that many , ex did you split up the 37 or just get them all in one day? TIA
