Vegas deals?

So my family wants to go to Vegas some time in May to do a group celebration that will include one 50th birthday, two 30th birthdays, a wedding in one of the chapels, and one other thing I'm forgetting. Some of them will gamble, some won't.

Does anybody who has been, goes frequently, is going, etc., have any info on good deals on lodging, eating, site seeing, etc? I've been surfing the web and some of the deals I'm finding have so many conditions, it's hard to determine if they're actually a good deal or if you end up paying full price after all the additional fees.

I haven't been in about 15 years, and none of us have been in a long while, so we don't have the casino cards for comps. We'll get them as soon as we get there, but that won't help much in the planning.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm going in March. I signed up to play myvegas on facebook. You can earn points that you redeem for discounts on rooms, buffets, show tickets and other things. I haven't been playing long but I have enough points to get several discounts.

I like Anthony Curtis' Las Vegas Advisor. Deals sent out on Fridays. Several of my last trips have included stays I found on there.

I was married at The Little Chapel of the Flowers. They were wonderful and allowed for some personalization other chapels didnt want to allow or charged more for. If you need an Elvis recommendation, ours was great (cant get married in Vegas without an Elvis???!!! ). Had him entertain at our anniversary party as well. PM if you need a recommendation.

As far as activities go, you may want to check out Groupon for Las Vegas. Some great deals, some not...just like Groupon for your area. You may get lucky and score a great price on something you really want to do.

Look at the hotel that you want to stay at- We did this and "played the booking game" put dates in and check rates, they seem to go down when you come back. We stayed at the luxor for 29 a nite. They also will send you things if you give them your e-mail- create a new one for all the junk you will get.
We also don't gamble much- i'm too cheap to give them my money
We did the canyons- red rock, valley of fire etc. our biggest expense was the Jeep that we rented.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! They give me a lot to go on.

My mom likes the buffets so I thought about getting a couple of the buffet passes where you pay one price, $49, and can eat at any of I think 7 buffets for a 24 hour period. Then I thought, just how much buffet food are we going to be able to eat in 24 hours?! But then one dinner buffet can run $30 or more.

The couple getting married are looking for an Elvis chapel. I've looked at the main one and you're right, they charge for every little thing. I didn't realize that other places have Elvises too. How can he be in more than one place at the same time?
I'll see if they've found a place yet and I might PM you for the name of the one you used.

Going to check out those websites now. Thanks!

I know what you mean! We drove across the country on our honeymoon and had reservations for 3 nights in vegas. If it wasn't for the other things to do there, I would have been ready to move on after the first night. I can't decide if I'm going to drive or fly and rent a car there. So many choices! Thank goodness there's still some time.

I agree with pink check out http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/for...splay.php?f=17 they do coupon trades just like we do here, while I am a gambler being from NJ makes it easy for me to go to Vegas and stay for free (the only reason I still gamble at Cesar's properties is to stay Diamond for my Vegas trips) I am never one to stay at one casino especially when it comes to food and entertainment in Vegas LoL

I admit I haven't paid for a hotel room in a gambling city since I turned 21 so that I can't help with but the above site has coupons for trade, there is also a site with free coupons I will see if I could find tomorrow for you, if your going to splurge on 1 buffet there without q's make it Rio OMG amazing .......... I'm not sure the ages of all your guests but if they are interested in nightclubs down there let me know which ones and I have emails, cell phones and blackberry pins for hosts at most of them which could get them on guest lists to avoid lines and cover charges, comes in handy considering some of the lines are 2 hours long and cover charges range from $20-$50 normally LoL

I play myvegas on facebook too. We redeemed last February for show tickets, food, drinks, and something else.

We did a timeshare presentation.3 hours fyi. We got 50 in food and 2 tickets to Chris angel.

For food they have buffet prices for 24 hours. We bought it @ 10 am and went for 4 meals. We found a diner which was quite cheap.

For lodging I signed up for everything and looked at deals all the time. We ended up at the luxor for $190 after tax and resort fee for the week.we bought a package with air.

Good luck and have fun.

This is where we disagree friend. NOTHING tops the buffet at The Wicked Spoon. On a girlfriends trip we spent about three hours there, we wanted more desserts but were just too full so we rested and had tea (good tea selection, not just Lipton/ bigelow) until we were ready for round two. You know how the pretty desserts usually don't taste great? Not the case here.

IMG_0953.jpgIMG_0954.jpg

Another recommendation if it is warm when you go (should be) pool you monies and rent a cabana. Makes a pool day so much nicer. Mon through Wednesday pricing isn't too bad. Even better if you are splitting between at least four people.

We like Kahunaville for breakfast when we stay at TI. Right by the pool for some morning sun time! Can you tell I am a sun deprived NYer in the depths of winter? I love the flair bartenders at Kahunaville as well. Fun to watch.

Another recommendation if you find yourself in PH and wanting a snack. The tableside guac at YOLO is wonderful. That and a margarona and you will be set for awhile.

I went a while back and stayed at The Excalibur. It was great. They had a buffet in the motel. You pay one price and can eat there three times a day, which was really easy and convenient. If you know what hotel you want to stay at follow them on their facebook page and they post deals often.

So many ideas! Thanks guys

I think there will be 20-25 people, all adults unless something changes.

I started playing the myvegas last night and have signed up on facebook for a few of the places to stay. Need to do more today.

Spoiledcat, when you say you go to vegas from NJ (I'm assuming Atlantic City) a lot, are you able to use your card/comps from AC in vegas? I have all the cards from the Tunica casinos here, but I thought I wasn't able to use them out there. None have anything on them now, but maybe I can use the card itself to open up a few more deals?

If you have cards from casinos anywhere linked to casinos in Vegas than yes you can see if they will give you special rates or comps........ Example I play at Harrahs, Cesar's, Ballys and showboat in NJ, but they also own Rio, Cesar's, Flamingo, Paris, Planet Hollywood and Ballys in Vegas, they have property in Several other states, so I am able to stay at any of these properties for free I usually get a week all free, my husband is a more "conservative" gambler if you will the occasional $100 on roulette $20 in a slot and they still give him 2-3 free days for Vegas so it's with a shot.

Remember sometimes the names won't match but they will be connected so if you look in the back of your cards, they will show the properties affiliation like the Luxor in Vegas if you look on the back of their car d their owned by MGM resorts Int. So you can google MGM resorts properties etc. to see which hotels they own there hope that makes sense.

Edited to add I just looked at totalrewards.com they have several in Tunica so if you have a card from Harrahs, grand Biloxi, horseshoe or roadhouse, go to their site register your card just need the card # and pin click reservations and select Vegas it will give you rates also if you pic "dates are flexible" I think you can see a month they will show you rates for all casinos that month sometimes they will pop up as free.

Thanks so much for sharing that! I only go to Tunica when my mom comes to town, so once or twice a year, and I'm like your husband, but probably even more conservative. I drive her down, make my $20 donation to whatever casino we end up at, and watch her play the rest of the time.

We tried using the harrah's card from Tunica to stay at the harrah's in St. Louis a few years ago when I went for a book fair. I had free nights for Tunica, but they told us they were only good in the area the card was from and wouldn't even knock a few dollars off the rate.
I'm so glad it might be different for Vegas. Going to register them tomorrow (once I figure out where I stashed them )
