What does a Rapid Rewards Credit mean? Does that mean toward a flight, or a free flight? I am not familiar with their terminology. Thanks!

It takes 16 rapid rewards points (credits) to equal one round trip flight.

Just FYI - we use the SW credit card pretty much for everything (food, gas, clothing etc.) and pay it off every month. We have averaged 3-4 FREE RT tickets a year. We have done it for 5 years and are hooked on those free flights...we've gone to San Fran. (from DC), New Orleans, etc. Something you should think about!!

Just so that there is not misunderstanding you must have eight (8) roundtrip flights in 24 consecutive months to get one free. By signing up for this you will get two free credits (toward your eight RT flights) not two free flights.

Details on Rapid Rewards (I work for SWA)

Earn 16 credits, within a consecutive 24 month period and you get a free round trip!!

Credits can come from promotions (such as this), taking a flight, using car rentals and hotels we are partnered with, using the SWA Visa card. You can earn bonus credits when you purchase a Business Select Fare for your flight.

So if you sign up for Rapid Rewards today, and you are not a member you will get
(2) for signing up
(2) for joining the email list

That's 4 of the 16 needed for a free round trip flight. HTH!

SWA doesn't fly international routes yet. There is a code-share in the works but not sure when that will happen.

It depends on your Card. There is 2 different types, the Visa Signature or the Visa Classic.

Quick question that maybe someone can answer before I go sign up and read all the rules (yes, I am lazy... )... Are the credits you get when you sign up and join the mailing list transferrable?? If so, I'll have every member of my family and his sign up then I can get my MIL & BIL here for Christmas! *fingers crossed*

Answered: #8 Membership in the Rapid Rewards program is for individual travelers only. Individuals must enroll separately and may not pool or combine credits with other Members. Members are limited to one account.

The sad thing is, if I buy for my MIL & BIL, then I wouldn't get any more credits either because I have to be the one flying and my name on my ID must EXACTLY match my account info. Bummer!

Just a thought---What about if you have them sign up and then send them the money to buy the tickets. Or purchase the tickets through their accounts? Then they could get credits for the next time they come to visit.
