| Does Trader Joe's have sales?
Yep I'm a nub to this store. I happened to stop at the one on s wabash in Chicago because I was close and never knew it was there before! I was so tired from work though so I failed to notice if they do sales or anything...Just picked up a few yummy looking items then drove home to Indiana.

Hi veriria--I used to shop there for years when we lived in another city, and they had "sales" in flyers. Occaisionally in the stores, items discontinued. Planning on driving 2 hrs North to go to one 1st time in 3 yrs, and would like to know as well. If they do business the same as usual, then I'm not thinking there would be any sales. Nice to "see" you again--thinking about your Paleo & how that is going? Zo |

I think their prices stay the same, main exception being produce. Some of their prices are pretty good. Half 'n half is usually a good buy there, coffee, some produce. They have great stuff. I love TJs! The other thing is they are the best about taking returns, no receipt required, cause most items are TJ items. I've returned plums that I thought were horrible and some cheese I didn't like. There doesn't have to be anything wrong with it, even if you just didn't care for the product. They take it back happily, no fuss, don't make you feel bad, ho hoops.

Hi, We shop at TJ's alot here in N VA area where we have 4 stores within 30 minutes from our farm/home. The thing about TJ's is the great frozen foods, entrees, breads, dairy, dry goods, some produce is cheaper than ethnic markets or Aldi Foods' ("sister" store to TJ's), wine/beer priced well, etc. Their cookies/crackers/cereals are also great and snacks/trail mixes, dried fruits, chips, etc. TJ's has a monthly newsletter/circular called The Fearless Flyer where they will advertise their new products, etc. You can use MQ(s) also at TJ's which is good for organic items. I shop at TJ's about every 2 or 3 months and they also have meat/seafood/fish too. Go early on the weekends before noon for ease of shopping as they get crowded. If you can, shop in the "off peak" hours before 4 p.m. weekdays. Web site for the newsletter/circular is below--enjoy! ![]() March 19, 2012 - Fearless Flyer - Trader Joe's (Trader Joe's site/info.) As far as Trader Joe's goes, for being downtown Chicago I was impressed with their prices on some things. Like a fairly large brick of grass-fed cheese for only $3.50, and a 6 pack of hard cider for $5.99! I didn't like their prices on their meat however. I could justify it if I knew that it was pastured and grass-fed/finished but for something that is fed a vegetarian diet no thanks haha (chickens and cows aren't meant to live on soy products ). And though it was expensive for jerky I got buffalo (bison?) jerky for $5.99, it was too spicy for the husband though. And for being downtown of course the parking sucks. I guess they have a parking lot UNDER the store which is cool, but there is another store in Orland Park, IL, which I might suggest we drive to next time. It's about the same time/distance away from where we live in NWI.

Congrats on the 23# wt loss, what an accomplishment, veriria-but then again, you make goals/priorities and meet them, I like that about you. Glad you found TJ's-I always found the Cheese prices so awesome. My favorite tip: When ill, and can't keep anything down, Trader Joes Brand has a great Vanilla Goat Milk Yogurt that is low carb, and not too bad to taste, really heals up my gut of anything so I can get back to my life. I found the cheese prices awesome too. Love Trader Joe's since their cheaper (for the items I want anyway) than a Whole Foods and just as good!

DH is an AM at TJ's, so I can give you the scoop. They do NOT have sales. Ever. Sometimes you can find items that are discounted because the store wants to move them, but that would be an extreme YMMV case, since most items getting close to code are donated. Even holiday items are often donated, but if they had 450 chocolate advent calendars a week after Christmas, you might be able to get one at a discount. The meat is expensive. It is ALL hormone-free, which is great, but it's still pricey IMHO. The grass-fed beef is the best though! |

We have a few TJs around here and I think we will start shopping there. it isnt the closest store to us, but, we have been wanting to eat better and are slowly making changes and they carry some products that are a challenge to find elsewhere. Now, can someone tell me--> do they take coupons or not? I could have sworn on their website it said they dont, but, someone posted here that they do, so, anyone know?

I don't think they take coupons-not 100% sure, but the store I go to does not. I LOVE TJ's! I usually go there about once every three weeks or so. I have to buy their Melba toast every time, it just tastes better than other brands. The mandarin orange chicken, salsa, garlic fries, organic white corn tortilla chips, and parmesan garlic pita chips are really good. The lettuce is always fresh and reasonably priced. I've seen seasonal items on sale (Halloween gummy candy and holiday chocolate), but not regular items.

Trader joes does not accept coupons nor do they really have sales. There prices vary on items bc of the seasons. Primarily every thing in the store is private labeled, which means no mfc. They offer every day low cost which is already a great value. Love shopping there compared to whole foods. Definetly go early. A friend of mine works for the company that delivers all there food and I know they get produce 7 days a week to every store!

We are getting a TJ soon. Have never shopped at one so I'm excited. It will be only a few blocks from me so I'm sure I'll be making frequent trips.
