BOGO question

I went to tops today and bought the perry's bobo ice cream and I used the save $1.00 when you buy two. The cashier said I couldnt use it because I was not buying two ice creams. That the sale took off one ice cream so I was only buying one. I had to buy 4 ice creams to use the coupon. Does this sound right to you before I get in touch with corporate? I didnt want to cause too much of a stink as my hubby works at this particular store.

As per their policy found here it says:

• Tops will accept only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon for an advertised Buy one, Get one free offer. We will not accept a manufacturer’s coupon for the product that is received free as part of a Buy one, Get one free offer

I have never had a problem using $$/2 with a BOGO, but you cannot use (2) $$/1 coupons. I guess YMMV since it is so vague in the policy.

I called corporate and I am waiting on an answer. I'll let you know when I hear back. Even the front end manager had not hear of that before so she went to look it up. Hubby had to bring me up 2 more ice creams and even he argued with the cashier and said that a phone call to corporate should clear it up. Here's to hoping!

Hello,

The standard policy(if there is one) that I've seen is that you can only use one MQ and one SQ per item. So your buying product A and the store has a bogo promotion\sale which gives you another one, call it A2. Since the store is paying for A2 you could use the $1.00 off for 2 coupon because the manufacturer is paying for that coupon. But if you had a MQ bogo you would not be able to use the dollar off of 2 due to the restriction of only being able to use one mq per item.

I havent heard from corporate but hubby told me that everyone got a letter from them regarding the coupon. Apparantly the cashier is in the wrong and I should have been able to use the coupon on the sale item. The front end manager said so today to the store manager. I am still waiting on a call from corporate.

I had an issue a few weeks back with a bogo and a $/2 coupon. The lady wouldn't take it even though I had purchased 2 items. The register beeped and she wouldn't punch it through. I was annoyed but didn't want to deal with it so I just took the coupon back.

I got the call from the store manager. He said that I was totally right and he spoke with the cashier. It was funny because they were changing store managers and the new on is a friend of hubbys. He asked hubby for our phone number because no one had called me yet. Hubby promptly told him "Well someone better do it soon because if you dont she will call corporate again." Lol..hubby was proud of how I made sure that it was taken care of for all other couponers.
