I just went to FL and was told that FL just sent out an email a couple of hours ago that these coupons are considered FRAUD...

You can imagine my surprise and embarrassment.

I am trying to find a # to call TGIF and find out the low down from them..

The manager stated that this email came out a couple of hours ago.

My SIL went this morning and had no trouble..

I would call Food Lion first. I think the cashier was wrong.

I got mine off there website a few days ago and haven't had a problem using them. The only thing is they won't scan and have to be entered in manually.

I didn't get to cut my coupon out yet, but at the bottom of the paper it says tgif/cpn-heinz.

Heinz is the maker of the TGIF brands in stores. I'll email them and see if I can get an answer on these. They're great Q's that none of us want to miss out on I'm sure.

I'll let everyone know what I find out.

I called Food Lion and this coupon is NOT on the list that they have of fraudulent coupons. What they did say however, is that they will not accept IPs if they do not scan....so there may be where the problem arose because we know these don't scan very well.

I understand that everyone gets concerned when they hear the word fraud. But the admins are looking into it. So let's not get too worked up until we hear back from them.

I guess that is all for me, I am vowing now to never ever use an internet coupon again unless they come from brick or smart source. How in the world do we know when something is no good, we guess and that is all, it is not worth taking a chance and it being a bad coupon. Loosing our reputation and everything. Not Worth it to me at all!!!!!

1st of all...Let me say.. No one knows as of yet if these are fraudualnt coupons.
These came straight from the company so ..We don't know for sure what's going on,but I can assure you that the mods and Admins are looking very closey on this manner.
Let's try not to stir the pot till we hear from the Admins

I used 8 of those coupons within the last hour. The cashier (who is never pleased when I use coupons) took them to the manager and asked him if she had to let me use them. He told her to just key in the bar code and they will work. She asked why if they won't scan and he told her that I and a couple other people have been using them all week and they are legal to use.
I hope he was right. I would feel awful if they are not legit. Even though mine did come directly from the website at the beginning of the week.

I just got back from Target and I used (4) of the $3 and (1) $1.
None of them would scan, so the cashier entered the bar code numbers.

Target has them on sale 4 for $10 and that includes the LARGE package of bacon & cheese potato skins!

I did get my $3 coupon from the TGIF website after I entered the sweepstakes-so I know that it is legit. Even so they probably did not intend on people saving them to their computers and printing as many as they wanted. That was TGIF's bad.

I think these coupons have awesome deal potential-but- this deal could be killed really quickly. It is especially bad timing thanks to the other IP coupon problem that just happened. Please people-these expire 12-31-08! Use caution-don't use a bunch at a time and get overage, etc. Moderation

that's what I'm afraid of

let's all keep in mind that stores have the right to accept or reject a coupon, most especially IPs that doesn't scan. I guess its really bad timing, this is a LED, we have a lot of time to use it for later when the issue has been forgotten (hopefully).

I used some today with no problems at two different stores. The cashiers just keyed them in.

My understanding of BAD COUPONS:

If they don't scan AND the barcode won't go through - they are BAD. The computers will kick out the barcode if that is the case.

If the barcode keyed in goes through fine - they are ok.

This is what I've been told at registers at Walmart, Food Lion & Lowes Foods in my area. Probably a YMMV situation, but this was my experience. HTH put some minds at ease.

PS: No offense to cashiers, but don't take their word for it. I think a lot of them just don't want to key in the #s, frankly.

My friend is friends with an an Asst. Mgr. @ FL and they ONLY q's they have on record as fraudulent ones are those that people downloaded from Facebook (the high value ones) they are from some VXGTS something like that agency, it gets sent to that agency for processing, so in other words, it does not go back to Pantene or Nabisco or whatever the compnay may be, its that VXSGT something place. Nevertheless, these are the fraudulent q's not any others, as verified by this Asst. Mgr. I am not trying to overstep my boundaries by posting this, but, I figured it was OK since it is from a reliable source. Sorry to the Mod's and Admin's who work so hard to get us accurate info.

Maybe after all of the Facebook issues are resolved these other issues will fall to the way side also.

For now I will not be using the coupons that I got from the site and I am sure another deal will present itself..
