Maybe there's already a thread for this, but I've searched and can't find it. I am sucking up the color ink in my printer and I know there has got to be a way to print IP's in B&W. I changed my printer settings, so everything but IP's always print in B&W, but I can't figure out how on earth to change the things that print automatically. I have a Mac, thanks!

I have Windows and can't figure this out either. My color ink was running out and I was too lazy to take it out so I changed the settings and nothing happened. If I take out the color ink, then it prints in B&W just fine. The option that I changed was to tell the computer that my printer only had black ink and it didn't work. If you REALLY want to print in black and white, you could just take out the color ink, but that is a lot of work to do each time you want to print an IP. You'd have to put the color ink back in when you're done printing IPs so the ink doesn't go bad.

If we have the same setup, here's how you do it for most printers

Click on "start" in bottom left hand corner of your screen
Then click on "printers and faxes"
It will pull up the options.
Click on your printer (should be marked with a check or highlighted somehow)
Under "printer" in the upper left corner, click on "printing preferences"

This should bring up a window that lets you adjust the quality of the printout (I use draft, it takes less than half the ink). You can also click on the "black and white" or "grayscale printing" in some programs. These coupons take a lot of ink. I can imagine it would be very expensive to print them out in color.

Be sure to click on "OK" or "apply" after you've changed the settings.

FYI alot of stores do not except black and white. None of nine do so you may want to check before you print.

All my stores accept B&W, you should be fine.

The ones that I printed in color when my color ink was running out were so bad you couldn't see the picture on the coupon. All the writing was there and the barcode was fine and none of the cashiers I had even looked twice. You may want to check at your stores but all mine accepted them.

I didn't know there were stores that wouldn't take them if they weren't in color. I haven't run into any like that, thank goodness! If I had to print in color, I'd have to skip printing them online. The cost to do it would too high for the return.

I wish it were that easy - and it was with my PC, but my iBook doesn't give me those same options!

Try clicking on your printer's icon (should be on your dock). On the menu, click on "utility" which will open up a "printer list" window, highlight your printer and click on maintenance. From the drop-down menu, select Ink Cartridge Settings. Here you can select whether you want both black and color, color only, black only, then hit apply. HTH!
