| (my computer) Has A VIRUS
Okay since I last wrote I was having onging problems with my computer. I uninstalled Norton which I just purchased and was obviously NOT WORKING, and installed another FREEEEE antivirus software, AVG and it found what I had suspected a VIRUS. It is in the Win32/restore. Which explains why I have no SYSTEM RESTORE. It is in the virus vault and I need now to know what to do next if there is anything that I can do. I am running a second scan for all files. I did a complete scan on computer and found tons of adware, tracking cookies, etc. I will let you know what else POPS up. Thank you for listening to me again! JODY

I don't know how to help you but can direct you to a site that will. It is called, "Daniweb.com" It is free to join. Look for forums, then Microsoft Windows, then viruses. Post your problem and someone will definitely help you. I had something in my computer that kept opening up several IE windows. I would have up to 72 windows opened at once and they wouldn't stop. I went onto this group and within a couple of days, my problem was taken care of.

There is no way to delete a virus unfortunately. Everything downloaded, saved, used, and even seen is stored on the computers memory. The only way to get it back to a usable computer is to get a professional to set it up after they have inspected it and told you what items you have to get them. So even for Inlovewithnight the virus is still there only temporarily down. Sorry and I hope i helped.

One thing you can try is to set it back to factory settings. I had to do that with my computer and then I ran Avast.com and removed anything that was left. The only problem with restoring to factory settings is make sure you have all the codes for the software you have installed because you will have to put those in again. LMK if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to try and help you.

| I can't help you with your specific problem but I can tell you that I will NEVER pay for an antivirus program from one of the big names again. I've had both McAfee and Norton years ago and they BOTH screwed up my computer so bad that one time it wasn't able to be fixed, and the other had to be fixed by a technician. I've used the free AVG version for years and have never had a single problem. Never even had a virus get in that it caught later on a scan.

Hi all! I took it in and for almost $200 I can get it fixed, maybe. So I just ordered one from Dells anniversary on QVC. After reading and hearing lots of reviews and price comparisons I decided it was a great investment. I have installed AVG on the one with the virus, that was how I found the 56 trojans!!!! But it still isn't performing properly. I had Norton on mine as I said....Never again. By the way that is what the Military uses, Norton. My DH retired 20 years last April. Doesn't give me much security knowing they use Norton.???? Thanks all!! |

When you get your new computer first thing - remove Norton and install AVG. We even use AVG at my office and have had virtually no problems with it unlike Norton and McAfee.
