I just got a Canon Pixma MP560 Wireless AIO a few months ago... I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why it has 2 black ink cartridges? One small one #221 and one big one #220. Does it use up one cartridge and then the other? Cause right now it's telling me that the big one #220 is low... so I want to know if it will start using #221 now or do I have to replace #220 right away? Cause a box popped up on my screen and said something about continuing to use a low/empty cartridge could damage the printer. But the small one #221 is still full so apparently it hasn't been using it at the same time so maybe it will start once the big one is completely gone so it wont damage anything? Or does it use both simultaneously meaning I would still need to replace the big one soon?

this site says it will print without the #220, but you should go shopping

At the ratio of 3:1 in Canon’s Standard Printing mode, the Pixma MP560 printed 378 pages before the pigment black ink cartridge expired (ran out of ink). The Pixma MP560 did continue to print after the pigment black ink expired but around 440 the black text became faded and I had to replace the pigment black ink, magenta and yellow ink cartridges. However, you can continue to print after a cartridge expires so that’s good news.

also, hope you have it set to draft mode as default, so you use less ink per print
