| Target Red Card
Does anyone have a Target Redcard? and how do you like it? I have a debit card that offer's me points when I use it as a credit card. Although I forget most of the time to do that. I'm wondering if there is a way I could get both? Have a Target card but since it goes through my bank still get the points? Anyone come across this?

What debit card do you use to get points? We use to have Citibank but they discontinued the program!

No there is no way to do both. You use your Visa check card, for lets say PNC Points. You get the points when you use it as credit. When you use your Target Red card it goes through your account like a check, so no points will be issued. I use my Target card. You get a little discount and I also have it linked that when I use it my school (kids school) gets a percentage from every purchase. HTH

I understand how it works now. I need to decide what I want more. I get giftcards through my bank for Target but I do shop alot of target so the 5% might add up. I'm not sure how to determine which one is better. Do you have issues with coupons and the discount? How is it discounted? Do they see your redcard and give you 5? or Does it discount later?

There are actually two Target Red cards, a credit Red Card and a debit Red Card. I have both but don't usually use the credit card. I use the debit card all the time at Target - I signed up in January and have already saved over $100 just by using it. There is a running total at the bottom of the receipts that tells you what you've saved in that transaction and also year to date. I think its a great program, especially for people like me who don't have any perks with my bank debit cards. There is a lag time of a few days from when you use the debit card to when it shows up on your bank balance (if you check online like I do), but that has never bothered me. The cashier that signed me up said it bothers some people that it's not instantly out of your bank balance - but if you update your checkbook with the transaction I don't see what the problem is. ps it also works at the Target Starbucks |

I was at the target in my home town and the manager told me to get my red card ASAP because they are not going to offer it anymore, and that the coupon policy is going to change...again!

The Red Card debit that I have ONLY works at Target--so I still have my credit union card (which does not have perks, but that I use everywhere else besides Target), and the Red Card is linked to my checking and any purchases made with the red card automatically are debited against my checking account. Wonder if they are going to do away with the 5% discount everyday? That is the only reason I carry it (it does also offer free shipping with online purchases but I have never used it since I live close to several stores and can usually get what I am looking for). |

I have the target red card and I love it! 5% off is a great discount and the free shipping works out great when they are offering really good deals online, like recent toy clearance items or daily deals.

Don't forget to sign up for the school rewards with your Target card. You can do it at Target.com and doesn't cost a thing and helps your school!

I work for target and haven't heard a single thing about a change in red cards, in fact, red cards are one of the biggest focuses in the store along with target pharmacy rewards which also gives you 5% off.

Can someone answer a question about the Red Card for me? I'm looking into the Debit card one, and some of the wording of the card's terms is a bit vague. I'm hoping to use this card for regular Target purchases (as they have some of the best couponing deals in town) as well as purchase Starbucks and Playstation Network giftcards there as well. The terms say "Target gift cards and prepaid cards" are not included. However, does that mean "Target Gift cards" and "Target Prepaid Cards" or just "Target Giftcards" and "ANY Prepaid Cards"? I'd love some feedback from someone else who owns them as to whether they can purchase giftcards and still get the 5% off? I'll sign up in a heartbeat if it applies to giftcards. |

Love my redcard! I don't shop there a ton but when I do it is often for things I don't have coupons for or are still significant OOP, so the 5% is great. Love the online perks too. And in case anyone is wondering, the 5% DOES work on booze !

I have the debit card and the money comes directly out of my checking account, just like a regular debit/check card does, only it saves you 5% everytime you use it!

Just a small FYI if you use the Target Debit Card keep in mind that it can sometimes take approximately 2-3 business days for the transaction to reflect on your bank account so just make sure that you balance your check book (if you do that) or make sure of the amount you spend at Target that way this can avoid a chance of you becoming overdrawn, or just a little confused about the balance on your account. This is the only downside I found to the Target Debit Card. Other than that I love the 5% off whenever you use it

Yes - but one thing I was not clear on at first - is how the 5% comes off. Someone said it here already, but I think it bears repeating. The 5% comes off at the very, very end, after you have paid all gift cards, coupons, or any other discounts, so it is not 5% "off the top". It still adds up and I still love/use my red card, but that confused me at first. Because of this, there is no way to "double dip" your discount, though I'm told that if you spend a certain amount in pharmacy, you get a coupon for an additional 5% for a one-time shopping trip/use, which would be a really good deal.

yeah the 5% comes off the total at the very end of the transaction. Now also another thing to keep in mind is that if you do a partial payment with another credit card that is not a red card then the 5% only comes off of the total you are actually charging on your Red card and not on the total your putting on our regular credit or debit card. yeah it is Pharmacy Rewards which everytime you fill 5 prescriptions (approved prescriptions that cannot be paid by any government program not even partially) you get a 5% coupon. It is a good deal. |
