Target has Gerber Mixed Grain Cereal marked down to $1.50 a box and with the Gerber Cereal coupon makes it $1 a box. Can't beat that when they are $2.89 a box.

What age babies do you feed this to? I'm a new mom. A bit clueless...

I wouldn't put it in the formula until 4 months unless the doctor tells you otherwise. Some babies have a hard time digesting the cereal. I heard a horror story and refused to put it in DD's formula until she was 4 months.

You make a cereal with it at 4 or 6 mos. They reccommend 6 mos now, but every baby is different and some bigger babies may want to eat solids sooner.

Don't put it in the bottle, though...aspiration hazard. Some docs say add it in for reflux/spitup but now lots of other drs. are saying it only suppresses the spitup of refluxy babies, but not the internal damage that is done...so it's not a good idea.

Oh, amen to waiting til the right time b/c my DH has IBS and I read a study where they linked it to too-early intro to solids. He got cereal at 8 days old.

We do use cereal in bottles because my son has severe reflux and has a history of aspiration (getting liquids into his lungs). The formula has to be thickened to honey consistency, so we have to use a combination of cereal and a special thickener that we order. We go through about 5 boxes of cereal a week, so thanks for the heads up! I would not advise anyone to just add it to a bottle either, unless directed to do so by your doctor. We have to see a feeding specialist to monitor everything our child eats, the thickness of it, etc.

Where is the $1.00 off gerber coupon? Is it the one from the website?

I went to the Gerber website and printed a $2.00 off coupon for their cereal with DHA in the canister. At our grocer, it's 2.79. So I get a canister for .79.

My ds is a big baby...he was almost 10lbs at birth so he was ready to start solids earlier than most. I think he was around 3 months when we started giving him about 2 Tbs before his bedtime feeding.

These were coupons from the website and from Gerber. I turn in all the UPC's with the Gerber Grad Rebate and get coupons to use on any Gerber Food Item.
